A couple of days ago I withdrew $500 from a Canadia ATM and didn't get the usual prompt about a $5 fee and $500 maximun. Today I withdrew again, this time a grand, and again I didn't pay any fee nor hit the regular $500 cap.
I don't know if it's a mistake on their end, but it sure puts ANZ to shame with their $5 fee and $400 limit!
Bless

I remember when I first arrived in 2013, Canadia was well known for not charging any atm fees at all. They changed that like a year later. Good too see they went back.Alexandra wrote:A couple of days ago I withdrew $500 from a Canadia ATM and didn't get the usual prompt about a $5 fee and $500 maximun. Anyone who doesn't like Capitalism is a pathetic loser. God bless the USA and no place else.
They haven't, don't be fooled they just are being really poor form and don't tell you about the fee anymore.
Check your statement take out 100 you will be charged $105 on my statement, $220 = $225 etc.
2017-09-21 Fin: 000000099999997,FORTUNA,SIHANOUK VI (transaction for $625.00) £479.51 I took out $620
2017-09-24 Fin: 000000099999997,FORTUNA,SIHANOUK VI (transaction for $415.00) £323.31 I took out $410
2017-09-27 Fin: 000000099999997,CANADIA,SIHANOUK VI (transaction for $635.00) £481.35 I took out $630
2017-10-04 Fin: 000000099999997,CANADIA,SIHANOUK VI (transaction for $605.00) £463.18 I took out $610
And it's not my bank charging me $5 as it's free withdrawals just pay 1% of transaction fee it's a mastercard.
Is it even legal charging a fee without alerting you beforehand?

Ouch. Don't know about legality but pretty sure it's a violation of the agreements with card companies.
At least they removed the $500 transaction limit, which is nice.

Why don't you just get a local bank account and transfer funds here, then you won't have to pay fees everytime you make a withdrawal from an ATM, plus you'll have higher daily withdrawl limits if you choose or for higher amounts you can just go into a branch.
Makes no sense if you're living here but relying on using a card from your home country all the time.

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

Am baffled why long term expats don’t just operate a local account. Much cheaper. Plus you can get decent interest rates on easy access accounts.

What are you doing there then? I have many reasons for not living in PP again, but the banking services, Canadia and ABA in particular, were not the issue.upstage wrote:IT ARE NOT SAFE HERE
