Changing USD TO riel

Seems like every time I go to exchange USD for Riel, regardless of which location I go to, my USD ($50 $100 bills) are always subjected to an intense scrutiny, and they always find a reason to reject my money. Even if it's new print date, not torn at all, or worn. The latest rejection was because my bill got wet from the rain!

Has anyone had these experiences or know how to avoid them? Is there a reputable/decent dealer anywhere in PP?

No, not really.
The only reason for rejection for me is torn bills. And I generally know of it before and am expecting it - I’m just chancing my arm.

I get money changed pretty frequently. With few issues. Where are you getting your USD from? Where are you trying to change it?

Never had a problem except with torn bills, and I must have changed money thousands of times, usually at the small money changers around markets or Wing shops. I often withdraw Riel from the ATM anyway.

The Ly Hour shop on Sihanouk once denied some old 5 pound notes I somehow ended up with last year, but have never rejected any US note I've given them.

Why are you exchanging them? Just about everywhere can change a hundred, and for places that can't you probably don't need to keep more than 40,000r on hand, or just some singles and fives.

Not being a smart ass, but why?

I do too, I often take a mixture of $ and Riel because it’s useful to have small denominations notes to hand.
Loads of situations call for small notes.

It's just more convenient sometimes. The areas I live and work in are, like most areas, dominated by locals. Prices are in Riel for day to day stuff. The smallest U.S. bill you can withdraw is $10, while the 10,000 Riel bills are more like $2.50 so it's easier to pay taxis/ vendors etc with them. I often withdraw both, it's not like the old days when hardly anywhere seemed to be able to change a $50 but it's still better to have some smaller bills.

I most often have been exchanging the USD at the shops across from the Caltex near the new Canadia Bank on the corner of Monireth Blvd and 182. I'm gonna have to find a new place.
It's getting absurd.
