metaleap, earlier this year my old man passed away, just so happens I had my half yearly check up and doc noticed I was running a bit low on happiness, he straight away suggested some psycho tropics, antidepressants,(which would get him a back hander from Big Ph), he said great pills but it may take some time to wind down off them, yea right. I worked a bit harder at the gym, walked more and got over it, he also asked how my gout attacks were going that I did have really bad 2 years previously, (he offered me pills at the time that I would have to take for the rest of my life, another BP cash flow), he was surprised when I said I don't get them any more and upon further blood tests later found my uric acid levels had plummeted, how? by changing diet. No dairy products, processed meats etc. All I'm saying is there are alternate ways for the run of the mill stuff but some people find it easier to pop pills for everything, I heard 10 year olds were getting prescribed antidepressants, WTF, disgraceful.
Sure, if I get hit by Ebola I won't knock back Big Pharma and just eat oranges.
Worth reading/watching

"But see here's the thing, even condoms have a 99+% safety record, not a 100%. Apply that to a billion+ people humping on any given day and do the maths it gets worse, you can even get really unlucky and catch an STD just swimming in a theoretically sanitized public swimming pool in one of the most highly regulated and audited places on earth.. I'm not sh1tting you. Regrettably. Highly highly unlikely. But when it happens, big pharma to the rescue or certain death within a month
Dear oh dear make yourself a nice cup of hibiscus tea buddy and I'll get back to ya tomorrow
(that'll be $65 and pay on the way out)

Bro, don't worry your head, I too work out and smoke and indulge in life's pleasures as it suits. I'm not buying all these stupid pills either. But I've seen the ugly sides of various infections and serious afflictions in friends, family and rarely sadly even myself. Glad I never had gout so far. I get what you're saying, but like you said, when Da Ebola or other deadly disease strikes, a little pharma goes a long way. And of course if they can at all be prevented by smart (ideally scientifically informed rather than esoteric) life choices rather than immediately rushing to the greater medical-industrial complex, all the better.

I do remember the polio vaccination campaign in the 60's at my school, and also the Thalidomide mess around the same time.Hanno wrote:I am no pill popper, I don't even take Aspirins, but should I ever take seriously ill I sure hope big pharma is there with a cure.
