I put my lower back out years ago, and one thing i've found eases the tension in my lower back (and my knees), is lying on the floor with my feet resting on the edge of the bed so my thighs are pointing upwards - and half a coconut shell under my lower back where the knot or muscle pull is and my lower back. I move about on the shell (being careful that it doesnt break and maybe holding it, and the half with the 3 indentations is better as it doesn't have the sharp ridges), trying to find the tender points as that is where you need some work from what i've read, and just let my body weight do the work and just lay there. Maybe something like a lacrosse ball would be better as i could roll on it, but not much chance of finding one of them in shv?
I have also started working on the knot and tender points with a kitchen knife handle. The girlfriend might think you are abit nuts watching all this at first, but i think she knew that already with me. Hmmm.
My girlfriend - all 50kg's of her has been walking up and down my quads, but i'm so sensitive on them that it causes me to burst out laughing after 30 seconds so i'm taking that slowly at the moment. No problem at all when she walks up and down my hamstrings though as i guess they are stretched already due to the tight back.
Might go and buy a short length of that thick blue pvc drainage pipe to roll my quads and calves at some point. Same as a foam roller no?
I'm fairly convinced that stretching doesn't work on overworked muscles now and sometimes the muscles need to be rolled or squashed? Working out in the gym probably means you have alot of tension on your joints i reckon. I guess that's why boxing gyms tell newcomers to stop hitting the weights.
What about percussion massage on my quads to loosen them up? Does striking muscles free them up?? Percussion massage was/is big in Scandanavia no??
I bet the Germans know about this sort of stuff?
