MRI in Phnom Penh?
MRI in Phnom Penh?
Has anyone had an MRI in PP? There seem to be several places that have an MRI machine. Royal Rattanak Hospital is one. I also stumbled upon a clinic near Orussey that had a big "MRI" sign.
Should I have an MRI here or go to Bangkok? I just want to have my hip and spinal disks evaluated. I guess I have to have a doctor prescribe the MRI? Is there a doctor here who can competently prescribe the MRI based on my symptoms?
I've never had an MRI. Is it foolproof or can an inept technician botch it?
How do prices compare, here and in Bangkok?
Thanks.

I've heard by a guy at a bar that....
Oops, wrong story...
I heard from a guy that dies maintenance on MRI machines that the machines here are fine, BUT that they are installed so poorly that they perform below acceptable levels...
He was saying that there's too much vibration from the traffic on the streets and that makes all the pictures come out blurry or something.
I wish I had better memory.

Can't tell you about MRI but I had CT in Rattanak. They look it over themselves, give you an opinion, then send it to Bangkok and give you a second opinion about an hour later. Good system.redcup wrote:Has anyone had an MRI in PP? There seem to be several places that have an MRI machine. Royal Rattanak Hospital is one. the only decent one is at Calmette, was out of action for a few months. Got fixed recently. I know at least 1 other clinic that has MRI machine but its a lot older, with no as many "somethings" - images per second or sth. Also, at least the doc at Calmette can read the results...not sure about other clinics. you pay at the cashier before you go in, its double price for foreigners. expect to pay over 150 USd.
Double price for foreigners? I won't patronize that place on principle. How much would it cost in Bangkok?smithy wrote:the only decent one is at Calmette, was out of action for a few months. Just an extra $500 or so for the flights and hotel etc, stick up for your principles.redcup wrote:

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
I am going to Bangkok anyway soon, for other reasons. So no extra expense.Lucky Lucan wrote:Just an extra $500 or so for the flights and hotel etc, stick up for your principles.redcup wrote:
