Paramed Laboratory, #27 street 154. Just east of Golden Sorya (GS). Many (most?) clinics use them for blood work. You can even get a prostate exam (PSA) WITHOUT Dr. Scott's "finger" up your bum!

Where's the fun in that?

I never got that when I got a check up there. Also bare in mind the inserting of a finger into your arse hole and asking you to cough is NOT an hiv test.
Feel like asking for a refund now...
No idea in PP --- I always got tested at Red cross clinic in Bangkok. Totally anonymous and results typically within 30 minutes of drawing blood. Always packed though -- hookers, panicked farangs, couples getting tested together, gay couples etc. Fully professional with counselors and meds on-site should you be the recipient of bad news.
Not sure can be tested anonymously in PP or where how the information is shared. A positive test in Singapore is routed immediately to Ministry of Health and ALSO to immigration if you happen to be a resident foreigner their. Often they know before the hapless victim does.

Taxi, we'd rather walk. Huddle a doorway with the rain dogs The Rum pours strong and thin. Beat out the dustman with the Rain Dogs; Oh, how we danced and you Whispered to me ... You'll never be going back home

Every test here is anonymous. Am I the only one that says my name is Bill Clinton when I fill out the forms here?
Yea --- a lot of countries have strict requirements about presenting ID for HIV testing --- although I doubt that is much of an issue here. No idea if the more reputable places here would insist on that. I suppose there are a lot of "Willy Clintons" and "Bartholomew Simpsons" in the incoming paper work of some clinics.
I would still highly recommend Bangkok Red Cross for those who go to Bangkok.
I would be very wary about getting tested in some dodgy places ... have heard some horror stories.

RHAC health centers charge 1$ for a "quick HIV test" with results available within 2 hours.
If you can skip the doctor consultation which is close to useless (and costs 6$)

100% confirmed- The lab right next to Calmette (It has been mentioned several times now) does HIV tests for FREE. The doctor is a Khmer woman who speaks perfect English, French, Khmer. I know several people who have went there for an HIV test and no complaints about quality of service or knowledge.Clutchen Menuts wrote:yes, such an important test and folks still want to be cheap charlies. Pay the money and get the peace of mind.
EDIT- Also, the test here is 100% ANONYMOUS.
Anyone who doesn't like Capitalism is a pathetic loser. God bless the USA and no place else.

Is it true you can have a false positive but not a false negative?
Why is that, if it's true?

pew, pew, pew, pew!
Tests are designed to make sure false negatives dont happen. When testing a population for HIV for example you want to make sure that you pick up all the true positives and so a sensitive test is applied such as the ELISA test. The problem with a sensitive test is that in addition to correctly identifying the true positives it also picks up some false positives. All the people testing positive for the sensitive test are then subject to a second test which is low sensitivity and high specificity, which will correctly show a negative result when HIV is not present. Some info here on sensitivity/specificity of a test http://www.aidsmap.com/Sensitivity-and- ... e/1322984/ and some more in depth stuff on the associated stats here:http://ceaccp.oxfordjournals.org/content/8/6/221.fullYaTingPom wrote:Is it true you can have a false positive but not a false negative?
