Coincidentally I've just finished an appointment at a sleep clinic like an hour ago. I haven't been able to sleep well since I was a kid. About 15 years ago I started using Xanax and have slept fine ever since.
The problem according to the clinic is that I'm addicted to them. Honestly I don't really care. It helps me sleep. But they convinced me that it will lead to memory loss and confusion especially as I'm getting older.
What was I going to say? Where am I? Lol
Anyway so now I've agreed to wean myself off and because they sent a letter to my doctor he will no longer prescribe them for me.
Supposedly I'm doing this on a voluntarily basis and can withdraw from the program at any time. Ya right.
This will be the first week that I will have my script reduced. By the clinic doctor. Yikes! They have given me a few pages of advice around sleep but unfortunately I haven't read through them yet too share some advice. But some things I recall is too not eat late, and to not read from electronic devices or to watch television late as the blue light interferes with sleep. They make some devices now that have a reading mode that doesn't emit that spectrum of light. Another thing is that you should train your body to only associate your bed with sex and sleep. In other words don't spend a lot of time in bed unless you are doing the nasty or sleeping.
Valerian does nothing for me but sub-lingual melatonin (under the tongue) works fairly well.

I love bitches n gonna fuck Texas and the USA+ right up their god damn ass! Hallelujah!
I have the opposite problem. I get home after work and usually fall asleep on the sofa for thirty minutes. Then I'll wander out but I'm never in bed later than 11 or so.
I'm hoping to spend 80 percent of my remaining time on earth sleeping.

About 7 weeks ago, I started getting up at 5.15 to be at the gym about 6am. It was easy for 4 weeks as I was going to sleep early and sleeping well. The past few weeks I have to drag myself out of bed, as I have been going to sleep later and waking up frequently during the night.
I should have posted this in the trivial thread.

Sleep by 930-10, up 5. Feels good not having to rush around waking up last minute.

I find exercise makes me sleep lighter/less. I wake up at 3am or so and often if i manage to fall back to sleep it's light sleep and my body races and i often have this weird thing where i sweat on the back of my neck.

yeah you would think that exercise would exhaust you and make you sleepy, but it actually stimulates the brain having the opposite effectspitthedog wrote:I find exercise makes me sleep lighter/less. Don't exercise in the evening, simple. I have never slept better than I do now, 100k bike rides before mid afternoon, plus a good feed and half a dozen beers and I am in bed by 8 and awake at 4 , nothing bad about being awake to see the sun rise or hear the bird song .
k440, something to do when you're pissed.

I did try an Ambien once, I remember before I went to sleep I was talking nonsense and felt very uncomfortable. Never again.
