I had rapid HIV test at Local Health Care it's a free test. and HIV consultant told me HIV test only conclusive at 6 months.
So, I went to did AG/AB HIV MEIA FROM ROCHE Machine at 4 and 8 weeks at Paramed Laboratory. As I know It's is 4th generation HIV test because it's test for Antigen and Antibody.
I search on Internet, in Thailand, Singapore,......,UK,.... USA this test is conclusive at 4 week.
Only 3rd Generation HIV test conclusive at 12 weeks.
I also ask Dr. Scott He also told me AG/AB HIV test is conclusive at 4 week and 3rd generation HIV test at 12 weeks.
Why HIV consultant at Local Health Care to retest at 6 months?
Are HIV window period is different every country?
I really confuse about it.

A total of four posts, all about HIV tests. Maybe it's time to rethink your crummy lifestyle?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Many institutions / NGO's offering a HIV test do not tell you which test they use. Might be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation, you don't know. Better look for an institution making clear which test they use. The 4th generation test at Paramed is conclusive at 4 weeks... but... only for HIV 1, which is the most common here. For HIV 2 it's conclusive after 3 months, but HIV 2 seems to be prevalent in certain areas in Africa only and not spread so fast. Hence dr. Scott's reply.cam24kh wrote:I had rapid HIV test at Local Health Care it's a free test. and HIV consultant told me HIV test only conclusive at 6 months.

Asking for retests might be looking for money, or lack of knowledge. The 4th generation test used at Paramed is considered to be 99.99999% conclusive after 4 weeks for HIV 1 and after 3 months for HIV 2. No need for a retest. The 0,001% difference might be caused by specific diseases like auto immune diseases affecting test results.
