France has the highest saturated fat intake in Europe and has the least heart disease and one of the longest life expectancy. I'm guessing the same sort of thing occurs in S Korea where they love their pork belly and in the top ten life expectancy in the world. The Swiss - biggest cheese eaters - low heart heart disease, longest lives.
What gives?

All the anti-saturated fat information is paid for by the sugar lobby. I’ll try and find some references to that a bit later. But, that’s a huge concern of mine here in Cambodia, with the sugar intake skyrocketing,

Mediterranean diet.
Tomatoes, olive oil, red wine, red peppers
People always notice sugar in Khmer dishes, but the western diet is even worse, add high sodium for tinned foods

Interesting read that. The sugar frenzy in Cambodia will be biting the population on the arse soon enough. Never noticed any fatties in the photos at S21.Miguelito wrote:That’s the one!
I've spent a lot of time living in Aboriginal communities in remote parts of Australia. No fatties in the old photos, but there are two clear divisions these days, the skinnies and the grossly obese. The foods of choice always seem to involve sugar, lots of fat and stuff all fruit and veg. Sound familiar? There are a number of interesting similarities between the indigenous Australians and the Khmer. I might elaborate some more another time, but it is time for another beer just now.
