What or who inspires you?
This guy...
I was reminded of him again today. I relate to what he says. It resonates.
I go to the right.

Yeah. Bad choice of section. Perhaps one of the workers will move it into the general population

Part of what he says resonates with me, too.
What puts me off slightly is the references to a 'God' .
Having said that, there is a lot of sense in what he says.
It's all about personal experiences, I suppose, and where those lead you.
His stories of personal endurance and stamina are certainly inspiring.
I like the comment at 13.05: 'You've gotta take everything and throw it away.' (I believe that quote to reference prior misconceptions about what life on this planet is.)
Yeah, suffering is a test. But that could also condition us to accept suffering as the 'natural state.' I don't believe it is.
When he goes into what he calls 'the dark side,' also throws me a bit (though I have experienced the 'dark side' - as have we all.)
But I like this: 'Open the door and go in...'
And this: 'I was doing ... things ... to make people like me ...'
But then, the 'dark side' that I don't relate to or admire, at all. Thus: 'I sold my soul to the devil...'
Just like Bob Dylan (aka Robert Zimmerman) did.
And there are things that we just don't know. Yet.
Just my twopence! Thanks, Vi!

Can you see the correction I did for you.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

However, back on topic, the words and works of, George MacDonald Fraser, Patrick O'Brian and PG Wodehouse frequently inspire myself and my life.

I will go with what. What inspires me is the idea of living versus existing. When I was 42 years old I went out in my yard, did about 10 min. of light work and came in short of breath and with chest pains. I called my doc and he said to go to the hospital, right up the street from where I lived and get checked out. Everything came back clean but it made me take a good hard look at my situation. I had been a 3 pack a day smoker for about 30 years, my metabolism hit a brick wall at 38 and I had put on 90 pounds in 4 years. I decided then and there that I had better prepare to die soon or change my life. I called the doc back, had him put me on the patch, invented my own diet, and started hitting the gym. I never smoked again, I dropped 47 pounds in 42 days, and I became a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor within 3 years. From that point on I have lived with one of my favorite sayings: "When I stop living I will die!"
I really believe the only thing that can truly motivate me is the idea of having to live without enjoying life.

I have learned that even in face of death, it isn't what inspires me to live. I have learned that for some, existing is all they know, and therefore living is no inspiration. Sad but true.
