Vaping being banned in US
Sorry to everyone that looks like they’re sucking a penis all day on a vape. Turns out it’s not good for you (shocking news).

Is it about asylum seekers avoiding tax?

I believe its been banned due to a recent study in the US, that revealed that vaping can cause cervical cancer for men.

I don't think they are banning it. They are banning flavored ecigs.
Although I think the real problem is that they are jacking the voltage up on the batteries in the vape pens and sucking in more than should suckeded. Therefore messin up the lungs. I guess.

They sell the vape devices now
These devices, with brand names such as IQOS (Philip Morris), Juul (now partly owned by Altria) and iSwitch (from BAT), deliver a nicotine hit via electronically heated vapour rather than tobacco smoke. Research suggests that the health risks of “vaping” are much lower than for traditional cigarettes – meaning, in essence, that smokers can feed their addiction more safely.

Yes, heard about that.
They really are a wonderful company. Massive revenue and close to 200 billion in assets. And 8%+ dividend yield last year.

They slumped 3.35 percent. They are down 10 percent on the year and the share price has halved since 2017.
The reason the dividend yield is so high is because the share price is so low.
Whether it's low depends, of course, how much one bought at.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 2:50 pm

I'm happy to take 8% as reward for my patience.

It’s a racket, those e-cigs.
At one stage there were half a dozen different electronic contraptions on the table at Wow’s - 6 beers in, all of their owners had their greasy mits in my pack.

Not really. The fact remains that even if you bought at a price lower than today your investment has halved in the last two years.
Your last sentence makes no sense. It’s not patience that has given you 8 percent divided yield. It is a low share price.
Getting 8 percent return on an asset is scant consolation for that asset plummeting in value recently.
I am looking back a bit further than two years.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 1:03 pmslavedog wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 3:59 pmWhether it's low depends, of course, how much one bought at.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 2:50 pm

Re. my last sentence, one has a choice. Sell the stock or keep it and take 8% reward for doing so in the meantime.

I get that. Congratulations. Your BAT shares are worth more than you paid for them.
While I’m at it, commiserations. Your BAT shares are worth half now than what they were in 2017.
Better?
Full disclosure. I have BAT shares.
