I got married in China. Take your no-impediment letter (obtained from British embassy or Foreign Office and translated by the Chinese consultate) and her ID to a marriage registry in her home town. It costs... $2 to get married and that's only because they put your photo in the wedding book they give you. Easiest marriage in the world ever.

I'm the guy who started this thread. I couldn't login with my name so I changed. Anyway, this thread comes up every six months or so. I eventually got married in Hong Kong. It was super easy and I was able to obtain a spouse visa for my country of employment based on it. I highly recommend doing it in Hong Kong. By the way, I'm still happily married after over two years.

Good to hear. So that confirms nkellingly's advice - China/HK is the way to go. Could be very helpful tips for many guys.
I came, I argued, I'm out
Look through the thread and follow the advice.
Easy to do here if you have a little patience.

Hi all,
Thanks for the useful info. I am British and hoping to marry my British fiance in a few months time in Cambodia (as we both live and work here).
The post above (right at the top of the thread) seems remarkably simple - we have read tons of websites (all only a little bit helpful), and some of them suggest a much more complicated process, and suggest that we are required to bring up to 7 different sets of documents (including birth certificates, passports, evidence of salaries etc.).
Is the above post based on a personal experience? Perhaps the $100 is a good enough replacement for some of these documents
Cheers

Ask GavinMac, he knows all about it...
Hi, I know this post has not been active for a while but I will give it a try. I am trying to get married (we are both foreigners) here in Cambodia and it would be nice to hear if someone has succeeded recently;
Thanks!
Thanks!
Given the advice here is from my marriage in 2007 and Dengchao's in 2012, those procedures are most likely completely out of date by now.Chuangt2u wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2009 8:22 pm1. Go to your respective embassies and obtain certificates of no impediment.
2. Go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (behind Naga) and fill out the form requesting permission to marry in Cambodia. If you want to do it all in one visit to the ministry, then you will need to take:
a) The correct medical certificate from Pasteur. A simple check for HIV, TB, STDs, etc. If you don't want to bother with the medical certificates required, then the clerk can cover them for you (print some) for $20 each (neg) at the ministry.
b) 6 passport size photos each.
c) $100 for the clerk's boss to sign off on the papers. (less than 24 hours turnaround)
d) Both of your CNI certificates (originals) plus several photocopies of each.
In return for your cash, you will be given a signed, sealed, and stamped certificate printed on bright yellow paper, this is your permission to marry in Cambodia.
Next, take your CNI originals and a Khmer translation of each (plus copies of all), your spanking new permission letter (plus copies), and your good selves to your local Sangat office. There, after much chuckling, you will be asked a series of background questions for their registry book, then you need to thumbprint sign said registry. This must all be done in the presence of 2 witnesses. Take some cash.
That's it, finished, you are now legally married.
Contact your embassies and register the marriage, choose a spot for the church service to keep the ladies happy and good luck to you both.

Best ask your embassy for advice.
If you're determined to try, here's the paperwork you're aiming towards; this is from my wedding here. Show this to the officials and hopefully they'll know where you're headed and what you want... that's what Dengchao did.

Hi I'm a citizen of England and my husband from an European Union country. We decided to get married in Cambodia next year. Do you know if there have been any changes in the procedure?
