Hi all,
I'm moving to PP in July. We've booked a reasonable hotel apt for a couple of weeks, but are making some inquiries through our contacts to find suitable accommodation. We don't need anything fancy. Family with 3 kids, age 8, 4, and 2. Basically, we will be working in the general vicinity of the Russian Hospital. We don't want to live toooo far away. A reasonably priced newish row house is available (5 br, $450/mo) in Beoung Tumpun south of the BT market.
Any advice on this area and how far it is from Tumnup Teuk (Russian hospital area)? Google maps says 10 minutes in car, but we won't be getting a car immediately, so tuktuks would be the way to go. We could pay more to be closer, but even the Russian market area (according to google maps) is 10 minutes by car from there.
Advice/suggestions?
Areas to live with family in PP?
The house in BT isn't bad for your place of work, just make sure the house doesn't get flooded when it rains , which I've seen all the time in the area. You won't find easily similarly priced accommodation elsewhere. My advice would be to get a car asap.
Thanks for the info. They say it doesn't flood, but I will look into the area further.
I'm living in BT right where you want to be. Plenty of cheap row houses in non flooding streets available. I'm here until Early June . I'd be happy to show you around the area . PM me.

Pardon my engrish, thanks you.
We haven't gotten that far, sent a few followup questions. What's the going rate?raendi wrote:How much they want from electricity kWh?bbarnett wrote:A reasonably priced newish row house is available (5 br, $450/mo) in Beoung Tumpun south of the BT market.
Unfortunately, I won't be there until late July. Thanks for the offer, though, and glad to hear the area is good. This one is on street 87, close to street 26. Any idea about that area?ricecakes wrote:I'm living in BT right where you want to be. Plenty of cheap row houses in non flooding streets available. I'm here until Early June . Getting a Tuk Tuk along 271 from Wat Sam Kosal to Russian Hospital could be gruesome at times when the streets get congested. The area south of the Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital is worth a look too, rent is cheap there and it's very quiet at night. There are a couple of bridges that cross a smelly river but once past that it's ok, and the first km or so doesn't flood. It gets a bit crummy if you go too far south though.bbarnett wrote: Any advice on this area and how far it is from Tumnup Teuk (Russian hospital area)? Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Thanks for all the advice. We came to an agreement for a six month lease (in case it sucks) with option to renew. Seems to be fine, though.

Everything under 1000R. Electricity company's price is 720R, depent how much usage is so maybe lower with your big family.bbarnett wrote:What's the going rate?raendi wrote:How much they want from electricity kWh?
But then is water, garbage, cable tv, internet including rental price? If they are then they'll put electricity price maybe higher...
Pardon my engrish, thanks you.
