I'm going to KL for 5 days and was wondering
- best place to change ringgit ? Pp or local ?
- where to get a local sim, what network for a few days ?
- anything in particular that's worth bringing back from there ?
Thanks

Fly or Bus it to Penang. 100% better than K L.
SIM Card available at airport arrivals. https://www.celcom.com.my/personal/plans/traveller_sim
Only thing I can think of to bring back is :- A GUT full of yummy food.

Are there any direct flights to Penang from PNH? I would have thought any flights would naturally go via KL anyway.

Don't forget to check out The Beach Club and The Thai Club

Yes. And after you do, you'll kiss the ground upon returning to Cambodia. Clapped out slappers way past their sell by dates with premium prices and expensive beer.James Bong wrote:Don't forget to check out The Beach Club and The Thai Club

It was like that 6 years ago, some places never change.Jacked Camry wrote:Yes. And after you do, you'll kiss the ground upon returning to Cambodia. Logos likes living dangerously, and he isn't living on a teachers salary.

Thank you for the advice. However no Beach Club for me gentlemen, I am not travelling solo.
Otherwise I'd certainly have had a beer or two there (for old times sake, of course).

Watch the guys selling SIM cards at the airport, not great deals and they have tried to short change me.
I realize you aren't asking what to do in Malaysia, and specify they you are staying in KL... But, next time I go back to MY I will definitely be renting a motorcycle and ripping up through the highlands and elsewhere for a few days.

China town - eat.
Curry laksa joints - eat.
Indian fish head curry joints - eat.
Malaysian food compared to Cambodian food is the distance of a quarter mile sprint between a Maclaren P1 and a Penny Farthing.
Don't prepare to drink - the inverse case is true. Prices will offend you if you are a regular Cambo drinker.
Otherwise it is a clean, organised city with pretty friendly people.
...and don't take air Asia. If you want a personal car from the airport it will do you a $70 round trip and is about 70 km from the airport.

Haha - my money’s on Playboy
High tax on grog in Malaysia = Aussie prices+, for a large bottle of beer, ie $5+
Change money in town. Lots of Indian moneychangers competing for your business. No service fees.
I only ever stay in Chinatown and find all the food to be great tasting and reasonable in price.
