Does anyone know how to get there? I'd like to climb that mountain, but I think it takes three days. Has anyone done this? Any info would be helpful 'cause there's little on the net...

Don't tell me this is the guy who posted on TT, C2U.
Apart from not finding Khang Choeng he did exactly what we advised.

You are correct SunSan!
I am the same guy
I'm sorry for being a bit harsh to the expats who gave me quite much useful information about Phnum Aoral in the end.
The tread in Thorn Tree just got a bit off-topic about caviars etc, which pissed me off
To peregrate I would say, have fun on Phnom Aoral! I enjoyed the hike to Phnum Aoral !! Not so much for the scenery, but more for the overall experience getting far away from the tourist path and meeting some locals who have hardly seen westerns before!! Most of these local people up in Srae Kan have never traveled away from their homes. None of them had been to Phnom Penh for instance....

Distant Peak,
I read your blog post and it looks like you had a good time. On top of that, it looks like you saved a lot of money doing the trip yourself rather than paying a tour operator. That's a great tip to find someone who speaks English in town to go on the trip with you. The pictures look great by the way.

Nice one.I did however place all the photos on a map (geo-tagging in picasa), as I usually do with my photos. This tagging was based on some of the waypoints I recorded on my iPhone. Many of the photos, however, are just dropped roughly between waypoints. Anyhow it will give a fairly good indication of the route and which ridge we climbed.
