No entry stamp into Cambodia
No entry stamp into Cambodia
Hi There
I lost my passport in Viet Nam and I was entered into Cambodia without border entry stamp.
If I got my replacement passport in Cambodia. Can I leave Cambodia legally. Will they check to see if I actually enter the country legally? I am holding an Australian passport.
Thanks for any advise

So you had no passport at the border and they just let you in anyway? And you paid them for a tourist visa and they gave you no receipt or paperwork? And you exited Vietnam without any passport or paperwork either?hana001 wrote:I lost my passport in Viet Nam aand I was entered into Cambodia without border entry stamp.
However, your IP tells me you're in Vietnam right now rather than in Cambodia.
Can we have the truth now please?

OP, your first and last sentences contradict each other. Either you have a passport or you don't.
Australian passport holders are not permitted to exit Cambodia under any circumstance. New law effective immediately.hana001 wrote:Hi There

Can you just postpone that law until me and my smart phone clone can get there?cambod wrote:Australian passport holders are not permitted to exit Cambodia under any circumstance. New law effective immediately.hana001 wrote:Hi There

You are a young white boy in Cambodia without an entry stamp?
Basically your life is over.
When you try to leave you will be detained by the immigration police.
They will hold you in custody until it is all sorted. Whilst this will only take a couple of days, you will be held in custody with some pretty desperate khmers who enjoy nothing more than butt banging the little whitey. The proplem is that they do not practice safe sex and most have HIV.
Yes your Embassy will sort the stamp problem out for you, but it will take couple of days, in about 6 months time you will get sick for the first time.....Get your Doc to run a full blood screen. Between leaving Cambodia and then you really should use condoms, it's only fair, after all the other parties will surely have made sure they have the correct stamps in their passports...
I trust you come from a country that gives the retrovirals for free .. otherwise ......
tought break kiddo

If you entered illegally without a passport, why not just go back to Vietnam the same way?

Maybe she's thinking of entering Cambodia illegally because she did lose her passport and just wrote it like she has taken this action already? I'm not sure of the motivation for posting in this fashion, but there does appear to be more than just trolling here. As for the contradictory statement, she probably meant that she's an Australian citizen.
OP, if this interpretation is true, I doubt such a plan will end well. If you lost it in Vietnam, sort it out there.

Well I got stopped for this on my way out of Cambodia a few days ago and it took about half an hour for them to figure out. I could have got it sorted quicker if I'd understood what the problem was. It was that I didn't have an entry stamp from when the visas started, because I'd gotten a new passport while in Cambodia. There was a note on the first visa saying it was transferred from a previous passport, and they finally accepted that. I could see it being a problem if you can't prove when you did enter though, you might have to get it sorted out at the immigration office before you leave.hana001 wrote: Will they check to see if I actually enter the country legally?
What rain? What happened to the rainy season? I wish it would rain, it's hot as hell today.it is looney season dont forget. the rains do it. the rains!!!
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Actually in this situation now, well will be when I get to Bavet in an hour. The thought of entry/exit stamps never crossed my mind until the bus man got stressy about it.Lucky Lucan wrote:Well I got stopped for this on my way out of Cambodia a few days ago and it took about half an hour for them to figure out. You should be fine. It sounds like you have a new passport, and the old passport has your valid visa? You should have the old one with you to re-enter though, right? Although none if it is technically necessary as it's all in their computer system, they will most likely still want to see your previous passport.
I had an interesting one once, where I had to show three passports to leave: My old passport, with the valid visa, a temporary/emergency passport that I had entered on and had the entry stamp in it, and then my new, blank passport I was leaving on. Guy wasn't even confused for long, surprisingly.
