I'm planning a weekend trip to Saigon at the end of the month. Would be grateful for any recommendations for bus services. I know Mekong Express is an option, but wonder if there are others as good / better. Comfort and minimal hassle with border formalities are the priorities (I guess that's the case for most people).
Thanks in advance,
SD.

I recently went over with Mekong Express and returned with Kuhmo Samco.
Without doubt Kumho Samco was a better option, their depot in Phnom Penh is next to Sapaco's on Sihanouk Blvd near Olympic stadium.
But don't tell Sam Rainsy cos Kumho is a Youn bus!
The border crossing was a disaster with Kumho, but it was even a bigger disaster with Mekong Express.
Cheers Murray.

Thanks JM and Murray,
Thanks for the bus advice.
I'd also be interested to hear what kind of disasters occurred at the border crossing. (it's been 10+ years since I did this trip overland) What should I prepare myself for!?
Thanks.

Came back with Kumho two days ago.
Remarkably painless: seats go right back and driver was sane. Just a bit of mooching about at the border, perhaps 20 mins, but no hassles at all.
Think they are Korean owned and Yuon run. Good combination that.
They pick you up in backpacker land in HCMC and drop you in Sihanouk by Olympic.

Looks like Kumho is favourite. Let's hope those anti-yuon radical extremists don't bomb the bus!
