I would if I knew how to.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

How many times does a young Cambodian woman have to fly before she can fly by herself? I'd say about 50. I just dropped a Cambodian woman at the gate at Suvarnabhumi for her flight to Phnom Penh, while I left to board a flight to Hong Kong. It was about 90 minutes before her flight, and I was terrified there was going to be a gate change and then she would have disappeared only to spend eternity wandering that airport looking for her flight. I actually asked the least creepy looking white guy in the departure area to keep an eye on her and let her know if there were any changes. She made it home.
She has flown 6-7 times before, I decided to be bold and put her in line to check in for her flight, while I went to check in for mine. I gave her specific instructions to check her bag. We discussed this in the hotel in detail. I explained that because she had just acquired a 5 oz tube of face cream at EmQuartier (you can guess who paid for that), that she was required to check her bag.
"You can't carry that on. It's too big. It's over 100ml. Do you see these small liquids you have? These are OK, you can put them in your purse and carry them on. But the face cream is too big. Like this bottle of water over here. This would also be too big to carry on the plane. So you have to check your bag."
She said "But you'll have to pay to check it."
I said "No, you get one free checked bag. You can check it for free."
"OK."
We get to airport, I put her in line, tell her to check in, tell her to check the bag.
I check in for my flight, I come back, she is all checked in.
I didn't realize until we get up to security screening that she is still carrying her bag. She didn't check it. What the fuck?
"It's OK," she says.
Face cream that she had for all of 16 hours confiscated and "thrown out" by a delighted Thai security lady.

It's one in the category "Have you ever put a Khmer woman on the London Tube?" http://www.khmer440.com/chat_forum/view ... =8&t=54962
My Chinese partner was used to do business trips in China when I met her, and her English is excellent. I don't remember her having problems with flying alone.
Problems are:
Driving a car and traffic rules. She should get a local driving license first. But I don't think it's a good idea to let her drive a car. She just does not pay enough attention to other traffic. Even on a bicycle she makes many mistakes and is not confident.
Another thing is forgetting to leave the train at the right station or taking a train in the wrong direction... I can understand if she makes a mistake like that once, but not why she makes them multiple times...

If anyone is returning from PP to Melbourne in the next 2-6 weeks and is happy to assist my wife with connecting flights and clearing customs in Melbourne let me know.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

Scoffer mate. what you can do is request special assistance for you're wife. Airlines are happy to help. They understand these requirements. Its a free service. My MIL would never have been able to find the departure gate at PP , not to mention the transfer in Singapore on her flight to NZ without their help.scoffer wrote:If anyone is returning from PP to Melbourne in the next 2-6 weeks and is happy to assist my wife with connecting flights and clearing customs in Melbourne let me know.
If you throw in a ticket I’ll consider helping your missus with connecting flights and/or customs. I’m not doing much these other than working on a very tedious report, which can done anywhere!scoffer wrote:If anyone is returning from PP to Melbourne in the next 2-6 weeks and is happy to assist my wife with connecting flights and clearing customs in Melbourne let me know.
I get the connecting flight thing but why would anyone need special assistance clearing customs at the arrival airport ? It's not even her first time is it ?
