One option is to go with her to the airpirt and scour the check in line for someone you feel comfortable asking. Also, if she knows how to get the airport wifu working on her phone as soon as she is in the transit airport, you could guide her.

Haha, this is scoffer we're talking about. He couldn't successfully use Facebook messenger to guide Logos to Street 104.violet wrote: Also, if she knows how to get the airport wifu working on her phone as soon as she is in the transit airport, you could guide her.

He has become quite versed with one of the apps.... Well, 90%of the time. Come to think of it, he'll probably end up guiding laud john through bangkok airport thinking he's talking to his wife (and LJ would probably keep the error going just for the fun of it).

My guess is that part of the issue here is that the cheapest routing (the one scoffer might book), may involve buying her a ticket from Phnom Penh to Kuala Lumpur on Air Asia, and then a completely separate Air Asia X flight to Melbourne. She would have to go through immigration and claim her bags in KL, find the correct departures area, find the right check in desk, etc. And if that involves transferring between KLIA 1 and 2, then there's a train ride involved, and you have to buy a ticket, and they only take ringgit or credit cards.violet wrote:He has become quite versed with one of the apps.... I once bought my girlfriend a ticket to Bangkok on Bangkok Airways using my credit card. She made the flight without incident, but I have since read the fine print that Bangkok Airways can demand presentation of the credit card used at booking, and if you can't show them that you're the credit card holder or traveling with the credit card holder, you have to buy a new ticket on the spot. One way to avoid this unpleasant scenario is to book using Expedia or a third party travel agent website because the airline doesn't demand presentation of credit card if you book through Expedia, etc.
Anyway, that's another thing for Scoffer to think about if he's buying the ticket on his credit card and not traveling with her.

Also, if he's going to book the Kuala Lumpur meet and greet service, I think he should specifically tell them if the flights are on separate tickets and not a simple transfer so that the meet and greet staff know what they are getting into and charge him accordingly.

Having flown the route on Air Asia myself I can state that she will not need to go through immigration and collect bags etc.

I'll add that the general route will be the same between terminals (as her previius trips). She just needs to know which gate to head for. Sciffer can read the departure screen through her camera and tell her

All sorted, flights booked.
NB:
When traveling PP to Melbourne via KL2 you book your luggage through to Melb at check in.
You don't need to exit , collect it and check in again.

I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

Um. Scoffer was pointing out Gavin Mac's erroneous assumption. Scoffer may struggle with some things, but he's not stupid. Gavinmac is so smart he thinks he knows it all....and sometimes makes mistakes.YaTingPom wrote:Er, yes it’s called “Transit”.scoffer wrote:All sorted, flights booked.

To be honest, I would trust Mrs Scoffer to be more capable than Scoffer at most things, especially including travel - he probably has her erroneously booked on a flight to Vienna via Addis Ababa.

Wait until she has conquered flying and transitting, she'll have them flying there with purpose.

You are so Very Correct in this that I'm guessing you have cloned my phone and are watching every move I make.
By the way, the missus says you look a lot better after the haircut and shave,
I do laugh when she tells me you look sometimes like a shaggy dog and will never find a wife if you dress so poorly.
I tell her you don't want a wife, just a xxxx.
She scowls at me and say you are a bad man.

Transit on Air Asia can be very different from transit on most other airlines. They only offer "fly through" direct transit on certain routes. I guess Phnom Penh to Melbourne is one of those routes.YaTingPom wrote: Er, yes it’s called “Transit”.

Otherwise, they may have a morning flight from Phnom Penh to Kuala Lumpur, and then an afternoon flight from Kuala Lumpur to Yogyakarta, but you cannot book those as one itinerary on their website, and if you book them as a single itinerary Expedia or something, or book them as separate one way tickets, they won't give you both boarding passes when you check in in Phnom Penh, nor will they help you at the transit counter in KUL. You have to exit through immigration in KUL and check in again in KUL and re-enter the secure zone.
