Chinese business visa in Phnom Penh
Hi,
Has anyone applied for a Chinese business visa in Phnom Penh recently? Have you had success in getting more than 1 entry? Some years back I received a 30-day Chinese tourist visa in Phnom Penh (that's all I needed because I was able to convert my visa into a Chinese resident's permit once I arrived in China) and no documents were required whatsoever - I used an agent and never stepped foot inside the embassy. That was in 2010. I know that starting a few years ago they started increasing the number of documents required for a visa application, though it's different in each country. Is it easy to get a Chinese visa in Phnom Penh? I recently received a Chinese business visa in Bangkok, had all my documents in order but because I didn't have a copy of my previous Chinese visa, they would only issue a single entry 30 day visa, rather than the 60-day double entry I had requested. As I'm making another trip to China soon and there may be more in the next few months, I was wondering what my chances are of receiving a longer term visa.
It seems that only Americans and Canadians are receiving multiple entry 10 year tourist (and possibly business) visas outside of their home countries without even necessarily being residents of the countries they apply in. Everyone else is given a hard time and while in theory a 1-year multiple entry visa is listed as being available to other nationalities (in Cambodia this means all non-Cambodians), in practice if you try applying for it, you'll only be offered a 30 day single entry. A double entry visa seems to be available only if you have received a Chinese visa before.
Can anyone document their experiences with applying for Chinese visas in Phnom Penh? Did you use an agent? Is express processing available? Does it make a difference to your application if you hold a 1-year business visa extension compared to being on a 30-day single entry tourist visa? What documents did you have to supply and how long is standard processing and the application fee? I'm looking for experiences from non-Americans and non-Canadians only because as I've mentioned already these two nationalities have it very easy due to a bilateral agreement with China.

Most of what you wrote is complete crap. A business visa is an F visa. You can do it on the mainland if you have contacts, but best to do it outside China sometimes. You will need a medical. It can be extended easily once you have it and have a company backing you. If you are just looking for an agent ... good luck. They'll cost you out the ass and could even be fake.
Better to get a 30 day tourist visa and turn that into an F visa. If you know someone. If not, they require you to have 100 yuan per day in cash for a 30 day extension at the PSB for your tourist visa.
If you can't pull it together as soon as you get there ... well, what nationality are you, exactly?

I will be applying in Phnom Penh, how can I apply within China if a visa is needed to enter China? I am looking for an "M" visa, not a tourist visa and an "F" type visa is not necessary either. I have a sponsor in China and no problems with obtaining the documents required (company registration, invitation letter etc.), I was wondering what documents are needed in Phnom Penh as each embassy has different requirements. I am only going to China for a few days and spending time in different cities and provinces, hence dealing with the PSB to convert my visa is not an option. In fact, I've heard that they generally don't do visa conversions inside the country anymore, except for tourist to student status.
I'm going to be applying on a European passport.

Why didn't you say so the first time? I am speaking from experience also. If you have the documents, you have no problem. And they don't treat people different. Just go to the Chinese consulate and present your paperwork.black69wolf69 wrote:What are you talking about? What you just said is crap. I am speaking from personal experience. I would recommend a tourist visa which will let you travel anywhere in mainland China except military zones. That way you don't need any paperwork and can get a 30 day visa here at your hotel.black69wolf69 wrote:What are you talking about? What you just said is crap. What a completely useless reply. If you read what I wrote you would have seen I asked the following:batshitcrazyweirdo wrote:Why didn't you say so the first time? I am speaking from experience also. The End
1) Can I receive more than a single entry visa? I know I can receive a single entry visa as I've already successfully done so in Bangkok and some years back in Phnom Penh. But now I want more. I want a double or multi-entry visa, which foreigners usually can't get outside of their home countries. Americans and Canadians are the only exceptions I've seen so far. Cambodians may be able to receive a 1-year multi entry but foreigners from other countries can usually only get this in their home countries.
2) Do I need to be on a Cambodian 1-year extension of stay to apply or will a 30-day tourist visa do? Some embassies will only issue visas to citizens and residents, not tourists or short-term business travelers. This is important to know.
3) What documents do I need to apply? That way I can prepare myself. In Bangkok I needed an invitation letter containing information about my purpose of travel, intended address and mode of transport, letter from my company, bank statement (wasn't expressly required but I brought it along anyway), photocopies of my passport info page, 2 passport photos and a completed application form.
4) Processing time. Can I get the visa the same day or the next day as I could in Bangkok? Or is it 3-4 days processing time?
5) Cost. How much in US$.
Geez. What's so hard about answering these questions? If you don't have anything useful to add, please don't waste time responding here.

You seem to be making it complicated as to what you want and what you can get. If you have all the paperwork from company, you may need a medical for a business visa.
I'm saying keep it uncomplicated. Get a tourist visa. You said you staying a few days. Want to come back? Get another tourist visa, or, like I said, wait till you get to the mainland and many people can help you get a multi entry visa. I've had them all.
You are not being very specific. You have the letter of invitation and all paperwork? Just go to the Chinese Embassy and see what they issue you, then change it on the mainland ... cheap.
I recommend a tourist visa without complications and possible multi entry when you apply easily without all the diarrhea in your OP.

For once batshit sounds right and the visa procedure is pretty straightforward and described on the Chinese embassy website, incl costs. You sound particularly clueless for someone who"speaks from experience".

I suppose I could go for a tourist visa, but I would prefer a multi entry. However, what you have not been able to answer is whether Europeans can get multi entries (either for tourism or business) at the Chinese embassy in Phnom Penh. In Bangkok, they can't. Or rather, the embassy will look for every excuse not to issue one.batshitcrazyweirdo wrote:You seem to be making it complicated as to what you want and what you can get. I wish getting a Chinese visa were as easy as getting a Vietnamese visa, where all you need to apply is 1) a passport 2) a pulse 3) a completed application form and 4) the visa fee, but unfortunately, it's a little more complicated than that.
I think my OP was more than specific. First you say I'm not being specific enough then you attack it as being overly complicated? Make up your mind! I've provided all the info (and probably a bit more) that was necessary to answer this question.
Or would you prefer I wrote: hi i want chinese visa. what i need to do. bye. that kind of lazy simplicity might work for a 10-year old, but in the adult world real facts and information are necessary.

The Chinese embassy website doesn't state whether they WILL or WON'T issue a multi entry visa to a FOREIGNER living/visiting Cambodia. It doesn't specifically address the other questions I have asked either.logos wrote:For once batshit sounds right and the visa procedure is pretty straightforward and described on the Chinese embassy website, incl costs. Geez, what is it with some people on this forum. Why have a forum if a simple question can't even be answered without people attacking either the OP or making personal insults.
Talk about clueless. How about addressing the questions asked by the OP or do you have some kind of comprehension problem?
Maybe stick to replying to mindless drivel about expats crashing cars, whether racism exists in Cambodia or other useless crap.

OK thanks for that. I'll see whether that turns out to be true.batshitcrazyweirdo wrote:Yes, they issue multi entry tourist visas to Europeans. Even Nigerians!
In Bangkok they won't - despite claiming they do on their website and on their price list. The only way they will issue multi entry visas to non-locals is if they have a government invitation. Exceptions: Canadians and Americans as I've mentioned too many times already.

440 seems more and more populated by obsessive-compulsive weirdos. My guess is Romania or Latvia.
