Nearly 15 years later and that's still your go-to story while at a bar...Playboy wrote:Based on the history of this forum, and us pricks that post on it, you will still be hearing about it 5 years from now.
Nearly 15 years ago I got into an altercation with a traffic cop and was forced to break his nose - purely in self defence - somebody mentioned it just last week ...

Yes, you can get in for free after 5pm if you have ticket for the next day, no need to go up to Bakheng , there are other spots. Speaks a man who was there just a few days ago. Climb up on to Angkor Thom's wall for instance.Hanno wrote:Nope. And there is a strict quota on how many people are allowed to go up Bakheng.Phuket2006 wrote:u cant get in for the sunset for free??

Yeah, the Bakheng was overcrowded and shite even in 2000, it must be fucking wrecked by now.horace wrote:Yes, you can get in for free after 5pm if you have ticket for the next day, no need to go up to Bakheng , there are other spots. Sokha Group don't run the ticket concession anymore, the Royal Government took control of it in 2015. The prices went up too for the first time in maybe 20 years:Dangerous Dave wrote:I'd be interested to know if there's still a $20/head Sokimex toll booth for non-Cambodians on their way to the temples, and/or if the price has changed.
https://www.cambodiadaily.com/archives/ ... er-116386/A one-day ticket will increase from $20 to $37, a three-day ticket from $40 to $62 and a seven-day ticket will go from $60 to $72. Two dollars from each ticket will go to the Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital, which provides free treatment to Cambodian children.
Other places near enough to the capital that are worth visiting are Phnom Chisor with its 11th century ruins and great views, Phnom Tamao is ok too and there are some nearby temples at Tonle Bati. I believe there's an ancient tower at Phnom Tamao too but I've never seen it.
