Visiting family in US for Chistmas - multi city stops
Osaka is wonderful, Shanghai is also great, gavinmac trip itinerary is much better than anything in the middle East in my opinion. Also hopping around China is quite cheap and easy.
No, will use one back home. You need one that's able to look into the Amadeus system at rock bottom level. No fancy interfaces, just text based command line...... Not many around able to do that anymore.... But a travel agency specialized in business travel should be able to do it, even for economy tickets.LexusSchmexus wrote:What kind of specialized agent? Do you know of a good agent in Phnom Penh?Kachang wrote:Usually even in the lowest fare a stopover is allowed, but booking them online through a broker is a real pain in the *ss. Some airlines offer the opportunity on their website, but I usually use a specialized agent. They can check for each flight segment if the booking class of the fare is available on that particular segment, or there's a code share available which can be used with more convenient times for instance.LexusSchmexus wrote:In your experience Gavinmac, do such tickets end up costing a lot more than a standard one? Around 30% more or...? Many sites offer multiple stops, in your experience, which is the best for that?

Why go via COLD Europe?
if you use a Chinese airlines you can get a FREE transit visa for 72 hours (or more i think) in whatever city they go via.
Short hop over to Bangkok gives you more options than Flying out of PP
Look at using Cathy to LAX or SFO and stop in HK. Some very good deals on Kayak to the west coast.

I've seen many here with those text based 1996 DOS style interfaces. I'm assuming they could do the same.Kachang wrote:No, will use one back home. Anything in SE Asia you'd still like to see? Or northern Asia?Lex47 wrote:I'm flying from HCMC to Texas this Xmas, however instead of one straight shot I'd like to see a few new places.
The obvious thing that comes to mind is something like HCMC - Dubai - Berlin or some variation of that. I'm open to less obvious routes as well.
Basically I'm looking for suggestions from those travel veterans who have done this sort of trip before.
I'm a photographer, mostly street fashion and architecture, and I like photographing anything unusual and exotic.
We hit up Japan and S Korea last November/early December. Japan was way better than we expected. We only did 2 weeks Tokyo -Osaka- Kyoto. Was not freezing cold but chilly. Will go back again.
A Korea was okay, won't go back but it was freezing ass cold. However, during December, all the Christmas trees and lights are pretty cool.
I regret not going on holiday to Shanghai, just to check it out, or anywhere China really.
If I were you and said no to above, I'd hit up Eastern Europe. I've wanted to see some places there, especially Prague. Western Europe but I want to see Austria. Salzburg looks lovely.

I saw LAX to Bangkok last week for $326 RT. Short travel window, had to depart and return within about 2 weeks of each other. I feel bad for American folks who book international travel from their nearest big city without checking prices for LAX or NYC. Phoenix, AZ is a 1 hr flight to LAX. Last week LAX to Phnom Penh I found for 420 dollars round trip via Norwegian Airlines. Phoenix to LAX RT was $150, so $570 all in. Same site (Google flights) if I just searched Phoenix to Phnom Penh was like 1200USD round trip.Phuket2006 wrote:Why go via COLD Europe?

Like GavinMac says, use Google Flights + a site called Momondo. I cut Kayak out a while back.
