Lanmei Airlines - anyone flown ?
I am looking at one way tickets from PP to Hanoi for the family and whilst normally we fly Vietnam Airlines, I am seeing a new low cost cambodian airline ( all dangerous wodrs when out together ) called Lanmei offering direct flights at half the price. Has anyone got any experience with them ? I can fly the crew back to Hanoi for $265 ( 15kg luggage ) all in versus $600 ( 25kg luggage ) for Vietnam Airlines AND it is direct with no stops in Laos !

Cambodian airlines are notorious for cancellations. Check their schedule (maybe they just fly once a week?), and if a cancellation is no serious issue for you, I would take the safety risk. The trip in the tuk-tuk / taxi to Pochentong is statistically less safe than the flight itself I guess.

Don't they have some weird flight routes? I mean, I hear they have multiple "flight circuits" centering on Phnom Penh as the hub, as opposed to round trips.
Anybody figure that out yet?

No, completely normal round trips, like PP - Hong Kong - PP, PP-Hanoi-PP, SR-SGN-SR and so on.Conan the Mongol wrote:Don't they have some weird flight routes? I mean, I hear they have multiple "flight circuits" centering on Phnom Penh as the hub, as opposed to round trips.

But no experience flying with them but they cannot be any worse than other Cambodian airlines. I would only avoid Sky Angkor and maybe perhaps Cambodian Angkor Air. Both have multiple cancellation each day in last 6-9months. And there is no hope of getting money refunded or even re-routing with the local airlines.

Pay with a credit card and dispute the charge if flight is canceled.rogerrabbit wrote: And there is no hope of getting money refunded or even re-routing with the local airlines.

Lanmei flies Macau-PNH as well. I assume they also fly PNH-Macau.

is ricecakes still alive?
i was just looking at Lanmei, and the reviews are not stellar (don't like to use TA normally, but couldn't find any info elsewhere) -
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Airline_Rev ... i-Airlines
in the end, decided to take the risk and booked PP-Hanoi tix, it's only $89 (vs $367 on Vietnam, not direct).
it's a budget Chinese airline, registered in Cambodia. i assume they are no better or worse than other similar airlines in the region. i flew AirAsia in December, three out of three flights were delayed, by about an hour on average.

I must admit, I thought you cared about the family a bit more. Hell of a way to avoid private school fees, but up to you.
Note to self: Must be nice to morons.
Landed safely after a direct flight on a brand new empty plane at a near 50% discount to -and twice as fast as -those thieving Yuon Airline cunts. No brainer gainer.

Lanmei's planes are on average 10 years old. JC Airlines is the only one with brand new fleet.ricecakes wrote:Landed safely after a direct flight on a brand new empty plane at a near 50% discount to -and twice as fast as -those thieving Yuon Airline cunts. No brainer gainer.

Lanmei is Chinese. They purchase their planes from Germany and Eastern Europe. They have good mechanics and personnel (personal experience) and their maintenance is better than any Cambodian airline.
Why would you be worried?
