Hello, I apologize if this has been discussed before. I did a search and didn't find anything. Does anyone have any experience with a Cambodian applying for a tourist visa at the US embassy? I've read all the stats and it seems the rejection rates are high. I'm familiar with the procedure, the questions they ask and what they expect from the applicant. I would just like to hear from someone that has experience in Phnom Penh and whether or not they were rejected, etc...
Regards,
Patrick

Rejected.
The person getting the visa should be able to show significant ties to Cambodia (great job, land, business ownership, a home and prove financial means to travel. They need to make the officer comfortable that the person is going to return to Cambodia.
My fiance rejected. When I first submitted the application I did not know the process well. Eventually, we decided to move to the USA and I got very familiar with the visa process in order to bring her over on a K-1 90 day visa which was approved in 2017.
I may try to get her sister & brother over for our wedding party next year.

non refundable.
don't get too discouraged if she is denied on the first try. it's a cash cow for the state department.
and usually they will supply her of a list of things they want to see for the second application.
be prepared.
be organized.
be patient.

Out of curiosity, if you were married in 2017 or early 2018, why are you having the wedding party in 2019?GMJS-440 wrote:Rejected.

There is an open Lottery right now that, while a long shot, is worth a try. Most of us had little clue what we were getting into when we began our relationships here. Its a lot more difficult than one would have imagined, living in a free country and all.
Dear Lord Baby Jesus, Lyin in a Manger.
We did not want to rush plan a wedding party, but we were given only 90 days to get married so we just did a city hall marriage with the intent to have a wedding party at our leisure later on. This is not that uncommon to have the party at a later dategavinmac wrote:Out of curiosity, if you were married in 2017 or early 2018, why are you having the wedding party in 2019?GMJS-440 wrote:Rejected.

They mainly look for:
1) Assurance they’ll return
2) The itinerary of the trip
3) I forget the third... umm, is it who is paying for the trip?

Sorry not a visa related question.
But if you get that visa, which travel insurance better to get?
I've been checking out various insurance companies and their travel insurance plans kind of seem quite the same.
Is it better to get one from a US company which operates globally?
Found Allianz. Compared them to AXA at travel insurance marketplace and seems like Allianz is a good choice.
But still, from which company do you usually get your insrunace?

I think the UK and U.S has virtually closed it's doors with regards to long term visas and settling for rice wog spouses now.
