Loving India and Indian people. Feel like you can connect with them and have a laugh. I love Thailand, but there was always this wary feeling of foreigners there. Abit of an us and them sort of thing. Dunno.
One thing that i can never really get my head around in India though is the cleaning thing, or rather lack of it.
When we were checking out of a decent enough hotel in Siliguri , i had left the room after checking out, but realized i had forgotten my bicycle lock key.
So i go back to the room and see my key flying up from the bed as the owner and his son have the four corners of the same used bed sheet in their hands and fluttering it up to put it back on the bed.
Urrghh. How long had they not changed that sheet i wonder?
Meanwhile, here in first world Goa we agree to take a room. So the owner then tells us - "ok i'll change the sheets now then". So i say to the girlfriend, i bet the bathroom hasnt been cleaned then.
Urrghh
Yesterday 2 ladies arrived here and took the room next to us. Again : "ok i'll change the sheets now then".
Urrghh.
How long does it take to clean a room?
Out in sticks in third world Manipur the lodges have bettel nut spit down the walls
Urrghh.
When i took a room in the only lodge in town in a place called Manja, i forgot to check out the bathroom and my girlfriend says "come here". So i walk in the bathroom and God, the squat toilet had so many shit streaks on it, it looked like a Jackson Pollock. WTF. How could this be we asked? We didnt take the room as i said i'd probably have nightmares about that bog.
When you see them clean tables you cant help but think they just dont know how to clean or something. Dunno.
Whats it all about then?

Cleanliness and Indians
"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
Yes, Indian people like engaging and that's cool by me.
As for hotel cleanliness, I always thought things were in order the time I've spent there, although I'm getting a few flashbacks of a 12R/- room in Pahar Ganj 30 odd years ago; now that was grim.
