Visa border run
So I plan to go to Vietnam on the 11th to extend my Cambodian visa. Can I book a flight and get a Vietnamese tourist visa on arrival, and upon return to Cambodia 5 days later get an extension or an ordinary visa on arrival in PP Airport?

You can probably leave and come back and get a new visa on arrival. But generally you can’t get an extension on arrival.
What kind of visa do you have and what country are you from?

I'm from the UK. I ignorantly got the tourist visa instead of the 'ordinary' visa on arrival nearly 3 months ago, and can't renew at immigration this time. Do you know if when I go to Vietnam by air whether or not I can get a visa on arrival to Vietnam, or is there a lengthy application?
With a UK Passport you get a 15 day stay in Vietnam without any visa, they just stamp your passport with a 'permitted to stay until' 15 days time.
If you want to stay longer than 15 days then I believe that you need to get a tourist visa before you attempt to enter Vietnam.

If you've been here over two months you have overstayed.Barangnang wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 7:38 am

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Wow that makes my whole plan easy. Thanks for the information! Is that only arriving via Air or is that through the land border as well?RIH wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 9:57 amWith a UK Passport you get a 15 day stay in Vietnam without any visa, they just stamp your passport with a 'permitted to stay until' 15 days time.

No need to run, actually I advise to walk slowly, in a straight line,
Running across the Vietnamese border, would be a mistake.

Air - Ho Chi Min, Hanoi & Da Nang for certain. not sure about any other airports & land is a no no...
You sure land is a no no?
HCMC airport they can insist on a return/onward ticket. I've had to buy one in the airport at rip off prices in the past.
I was taking what seems to be the advice issued by the British Government concerning land as I have never personally tried it.
Phu Quoc also has slightly different requirement/rules.
Yes, the official requirements for the 15 day visa free entry say proof of a return ticket is required.
I have been asked to produce that at Ho Chi Min, Da Nang seem a great deal more relaxed about it..

15 day visa waivers are available at land bordrs e.g. at Moc Bai.Barangnang wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 10:17 amWow that makes my whole plan easy. Thanks for the information! Key qualification is that there must be 30 days between 'visa free' visits.
I read it was 3 months between visits. I have a Danish passport so maybe its different. Last time I got a vist to Cambodia which could be extended to 6 months, but they told me that was very unusual (and only because I gave some money to the bus driver to be used as a bribe). I really do not want to go back-and-forth every third month.MaxB wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 8:30 am15 day visa waivers are available at land bordrs e.g. at Moc Bai.Barangnang wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 10:17 amWow that makes my whole plan easy.
