I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
My initial reaction on seeing the thread title was, aaaaagh, having just arrived, but actually I think I'd rather be where I am than the Marriot. A balcony with a view (a tree, perhaps water, agent Starling) and access to the rooftop make life pretty bearable - so far.

Not to mention what it will end up costing, taxes are not inclusive of the advertised rate, so you're looking at about $2300+.RobW wrote: ↑Sun Jul 18, 2021 3:40 pmMu initial reaction on seeing the thread title was, aaaaagh, having just arrived, but actually I think I'd rather be where I am than the Marriot. Update - Not yet approved by MoH to proceed. Response from the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel to my email enquiry:
"Hi, we are putting the information in our website as our preparation. However the package is not bookable yet until the government send out the official announcement which we expecting to be soon. We will share an update once it's becoming official."

Sure, not cheap . Still, between paying that for the Marriott or being ripped off with charges of 60/70+30/day crappy meals at a noisy Chinese joint , I'd take the Marriott any day.
I'd pay it if it was a one off trip, but fkd if I'm gonna be taking that option every 3 months when I come home from work.

This is a good thing, but could be better.
They allow an adult and a child, and one assumes they check the child belongs to the adult. Is it that much more difficult to allow a married couple to stay together? All other Covid quarantine hotels do.
They can charge a room rate, and a fairly high additional person rate (for food ++), but to automatically say 'no' married couples is both unfair and bad business.
It isn't a noisy Chinese joint, but isn't it likely that most guests will soon be rich mainland Chinese?

and you cant share the room it seems without anyone over 12 ( 6-12) another $750
other than paying the full price

Further pricing details from Courtyard by Marriott sent to me via email, also they advised they are STILL waiting on approval, but are hopeful they will have it by the end of the week.

Good hotels are response to guest requests, so nice! (But unfortunately the Family Room well over my budget.)
Fine too for hotels to include a Service charge. However, don't you always leave a bit of cash for the cleaners anyway?

Not bad, though it needs competition to get pricing to a more reasonable level. The only "competition" there is right now, is the official state quarantine, which only costs a little less.
Considering people are receiving on average a $300 - 400 ($800 - 900 if they opt out of the meals) refund from their $2k deposit, I would say a lot less, especially for couples/families who are lucky enough to get placed in a hotel which only charges the same room rate as single travellers.
I have a feeling there'll only be a few high end hotels approved for pre-booking, same as when pre-booking was available last year (the only available options last year were Sokha, TianYi and Himawari). Purely speculation on my behalf.

i paid $1,860 for 2 of us in the phonm penh era hotel, which included 6 meals/day, huge room, good aircon, wifi, tv, windows that opened and a few days i could access the roof
$3,590 seems a bit excessive.
