Hello,
Anyone have a vague idea how easy it will likely be to get this Visa for Myanmar wife of Brit, for the various countries in Europe?
And are the visas generally all in person or can you apply for some EU countries online?
Tanks
Schengen Visa

Pretty sure it's all in person.
The criteria: provide enough evidence that she doesn't intend to stay in the EU.

I looked into it last year.
What put me off was you had to have a fixed itinerary, all booked, and then you were given exactly that length of time. We wanted to take the ferry to the north of Spain and then just drive, but proved too complicated.
Visa nationals also have to apply in their home countries, though your friend may have some sort of Irish residence.

That wasn’t my experience at all. It was pre brexit but I recall it being very easy and loose - just had to provide rough dates of arriving in and out of Europe and we had complete freedom and flexibility thereafter.RobW wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 8:47 pmI looked into it last year.

I seem to recall reading at the time that certain countries to which you applied for the Schengen were more flexible than others. Can’t remember which one we applied to. Suspect it was Spain.

Well, she has the normal Stamp 4 Residence Card, with the Married to Brit thing behind it, and both got Residence Permit cards for Withdrawal agreement, just in case things got ugly politically.RobW wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 8:47 pmI looked into it last year.

Didn't the EU have a 10 year visa at some point?

It is going to be much easier if she's already in Ireland and a resident there
she might need a visa but the best thing to do would be to check with a EU Embassy
France comes to mind because it's the most obvious destination. Otherwise the Czech Republic or Lithuania could prove easier to get a visa. A Schengen visa is going to be valid throughout the EU anyway
