An International Company based in Kampong Speu Province is seeking to employ a Chef / Housekeeper who will be responsible for the total household management of a compound housing several Expatriate Management staff.
Your Duties will be varied and will include:
Catering
• Provision of three daily healthy, substantial meals including (mostly) western and (some) Khmer meals and snacks and other meals as required on a random basis.
• Total Kitchen management including the maintenance of a fully stocked pantry at all times and a hygienic cooking environment.
• Shopping for western food stuffs on a regular basis in Phnom Penh
House Keeping
• Cleaning house to maintain an orderly, clean and well organised living environment.
• All laundry inclusive of work clothing and bedding. ( Machines provided )
• Ensuring all stocks of personal hygiene items are on hand at all times.
Minimum Requirements
• Proven chef experience providing western cuisine. We are not expecting Cordon Bleu but rather hearty meals to feed hard working men. Steak and Veg, Bacon and Eggs, Pies, Pastas, Roasts, Loc Lac, Stir Fry, Deserts et cetera.
• Ability to make a great coffee.
• Some English will be highly regarded.
• Must be able to drive a moto to the local market when needed.
• For longer trips to the city to shop for food et cetera we will provide a company car and driver.
• Healthy, a good sense of humour and a desire to be part of a small tight knit work crew.
• Honest. We will not tolerate theft no matter how small.
This job is going to provide a long term role and would ideally suit:
• A KHR National.
• Someone who is from the immediate Kirirom area or within an hour or so and has been working in Phnom Penh and wants to return home to be near their extended family and with a good job. Having said that of course we will look at anyone who meets the criteria no matter where they are from but hiring “locally” would cut down on logistics for the incumbent come public holiday time et cera
• Someone who does not have school aged children or if they do – see above – they would need to have family in the area to look after them as we cannot cater for kids and are looking for someone with minimal disruptions .
• There IS a very real opportunity to hire a husband and wife team as we will also need a security guard / odd job guy or we could put the husband to work in other areas of our project depending on skillsets.
• Age is open but older is better as we would hope it comes with more stability and less flight risk.
We can offer the right person and extremely attractive package based around salary / bonus / health / accommodation if necessary et cetera.
Basically……we want someone to come make our working life easy. Feed us good food , clean the house, do our laundry and wake us up and tell us to go to sleep when we pass out on the couch from exhaustion.
All CV can be sent to Playboy and he will pass them on to the Employer.
Only those whose current CVs fit the above will be considered. We look forward to your replies.

ASP.NET Web Developer for Contract Jobs.
I'm working over here as a contractor, and my skill set has me busier than I'd like to be and turning away contracts I don't have time for. So now I'm looking for someone to lighten my load. Work will not always be steady, and the pay isn't awesome... I generally win these by low-balling in comparison to the skills they employ (compared to other English speaking freelancers, not Indians/Chinese/etc where communication issues arise) for the project.
Probably about $15-20 an hour (depending on your speed, all contracts will be fixed bid and pay will be based on my estimate of time. after working together if we see big differences in time to do something I'll make adjustments on bids to cover it) on average. Sometimes a fatty job comes in and I'll "share the wealth" when it does (usually because I bid high, because I didn't want to do it... so you'll definitely be the one to get those.)
Not a lot, but for over here it's not bad. A 40 hour/1 week project (I've had 2 60 hour weeks now...) would land you $600 on the low end. And I have a 125 hour project I was just accepted for, while still working ongoing projects for 2 other clients.
The upsides? I'll handle the architecture, client management, payment, final code review, integration, final testing, etc aspects. You just code up the parts/projects I don't have time for. If there's a certain skill set you have and I don't, and we land a job using it, your pay will be higher as it will rely more on your abilities. I will make the bids for those jobs accordingly.
I don't sell UI design (I keep it to wire-frame standards unless there's an existing design) but if you have a design flare I will start to do so, and it will mean more work for you and a higher rate for those hours.
If you're interested, email me/pm me here and we'll start the conversation.

Those who begin coercive elimination of dissent soon find themselves exterminating dissenters. Compulsory unification of opinion achieves only the unanimity of the graveyard.

any thoughts on how the sale on non khmer beef, or a hybrid of khmer cattle with something like black angus/etc would fare on the local market here? as in would there even be a market desire for it? she has a small handful of these local scrawny cows (inheritance) that are managed by relatives out in the sticks and i've though about having some angus or herford seed imported and doing a little mixing with them. if nothing else the sheer volume of meat they produce from a single animal i would thing would create a desire for them and drive a higher rate/kilo for calf stock... not to mention the better marbling of the meat, etc for large cut consumption.

"Minister of Agriculture Chan Sarun called on Cambodian farmers to increase the size of their cows at a weekend cattle exhibition held in Kandal province, in order to increase domestic beef production.
Encouraging farmers to change their habits to fatten up cattle, he said there was a risk Cambodian cows would become smaller and smaller, until they resembled dogs."

I don't think Angus crossbreeds will be on the menu here......people want their cattle to be white.
But if local farmers can get their heads around the idea of having a big black bull on their farm......to lazy to post an image.....do an image search for Brangus.....you may be impressed.
Of course a major hurdle to having good cattle, is having good feed available year round.

Those breeds probably don't thrive in tropical climates. The cattle here are mostly some sort of Zebu. Check what variety they have in Thailand, they do dairy production there and the climate is similar. There is some large scale dairy outfit that set up here but I'm not sure what cattle they have or if they have managed to do much production.OrangeDragon wrote:i've though about having some angus or herford seed imported and doing a little mixing with them. if nothing else the sheer volume of meat they produce from a single animal i would thing would create a desire for them and drive a higher rate/kilo for calf stock... not to mention the better marbling of the meat, etc for large cut consumption.
That's pretty much the bottom line there.Of course a major hurdle to having good cattle, is having good feed available year round

Yeah the feed thing was my chief concern... would likely require a dependable well, good irritation system, and a decent amount of land for feed grasses.

Though there are some decent US breeds that fare well in Nevada free ranging on scrub grasses, etc.

If you can't spell it you probably can't rear it.
Hereford.
Hereford.
Rated R for Ricecakes
I wouldn't worry about spending money on an irritation system. The flies will irritate the cattle free of charge.OrangeDragon wrote:Yeah the feed thing was my chief concern... would likely require a dependable well, good irritation system, and a decent amount of land for feed grasses.

I heard through the grapevine recently that the dairy farm in Kirirom has been a failure. Hand milking in shit covered shed, and dead cows.Lucky Lucan wrote:Those breeds probably don't thrive in tropical climates. The cattle here are mostly some sort of Zebu.
