Martini Bar
Decent enough place for a couple of beers.
Saw the little chap sitting in the entrance to Martini bar when I visited last month.

The little chap in question must have made quite an impression on you, given you have him as your avatar.

I went there in 1996 and it was brill. Afterwards I went next door to Indochine, passed about 30 numbered girls behind a glass pane offering massage and went into a dark room, where I watched a girl who resembled a Mongolian heifer remove her clothes. Meanwhile sweaty topless young things tried to sit on my knee saying "want Tiger, want Tiger." Two refusals and they moved to the next guy.
Perhaps it's changed since then.

Only a little bit. Now they sit on your knee and say "want ice, want ice".RBD wrote:I went there in 1996 and it was brill. Cat house the longest I'd say, followed by Martini's , then Heart and Howies, remembering that both Happy Herbs and Pink elephant were on the riverside before Howies was open and Shanghai was in it's first creation as Studio 51.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.
Cathouse has been there a long time. Filipinas for UNTAC. Sharkey was Lido and the Heart opened in Summer 93. Happy Herb's still on Blvd. USSR. I saw two different French soldiers get thrown down the stairs at Lido. Both got up and went back in.

It should be kept in mind that Martinis has moved 3 times. Cathouse and Lido (Sharkys) are still at their original locations. Heart is at it's original location too, but it''s a completely different building.Capital_9 wrote:Is there any non hotel bar in Phnom Penh that has lasted as long as Martinis has?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Yes, good point about Martinis moving. But it has kept faithful to its original raison d'etre. Sharky's has tried to reinvent itself.Lucky Lucan wrote: It should be kept in mind that Martinis has moved 3 times. Cathouse and Lido (Sharkys) are still at their original locations.
