Can a foreign resident get a gun licence in Cambodia? I know its possible in Thailand. Can you shoot people who break into your house?
And before anyone starts ranting about banning guns, I had one (legally) for about 8 years and never shot anyone.

There are no public gun licences in Cambodia, all guns are illeagal, only the licenced police can carry a gun and then they can't keep it at home, apparently the only people who can carry a sidearm and keep it at home are high ranking officers in the army.
I know about one (Khmer) Happy Pizza restaurant owner on the riverfront who after being tied up at gun point in his restaurant at closing time and having the shit kicked out of him before being relieved of his cash, paid $5000 to become a 'General' just so he could carry a shooter 24\7 (aynd its awl nice n legal like).
Obviously all of this info is bar room banter, so it probably has a 50% bullshit element to it.

Can an expat buy a gun? Yeah, if you have the connections, although it's become more difficult than it used to be.
Is an expat allowed to carry or possess a gun? No. And when (Chez) Johnny was raided and the police found that he had a shooter on the premises, it only added to his woes and the price of the backhander he had to pay to get out of jail.
Why do you need a gun? If a rich or middle class khmer wants somebody waxing, they don't do it themselves. They pay somebody to do it.
I've even heard recently that the Khmer police at national level are getting pissed off with Khmer rich kids running around at night tooled up. Hok Lundy (National Police chief) made a speech only this week in which he warned rich Khmers not to allow shooters to fall into the hands of their dumb show off kids.
Slightly off topic, the authorities are even getting pissed off with the rich Khmer kids at the Heart behaving badly and when an expat female aid worker was assaulted in there a while back the Khmer responsible (a reasonably rich and connected young man) was thrown in jail for three months to set an example.

Hey guys,
The answer is simply NO. For the higher ranking Yes, they can possess gun and have guns at their house and cars. However, foreigners and even local poeple AREN"T allow to carry gun.
Also, Foreigner CAN"T just bribe to be a general(it's a constitution things). And hence simply, it's impossible to have gun LEGALLY
I think the best thing to avoid people threspass your premise is to prevent it. May be have some kind of alarm system or hire some police man to guard it?
