Sarith,
The shipping cost should only be around $1500(send your car with someone esle). As long as you pay full import tax, you don't have to pay any BRIBE! The guy don't know what hell he is talking about!
But on a serious note, why Ford Exlporer? of all my experiences selling used car in Philadelphia....that have to be the absolute worse SUV ever produced.
Cars in Cambodia
Unfortunately KimLeang I own that car. My parents likes the way it look when they installed the push bar. I will never buy a Ford again. The car only have 55,000 miles or so and it's falling apart. Check engine, heating problems, tires, recall and etc...
I called everywhere for the info to ship my car to Cambodia and they all asked around $3000-4500 to get it there.

Hey not trying to offend you here but unless you have some serious connections you will have to pay some "grey money". My sister in law works for customs and I can tell you they make a lot more than the official salary. I am sure you know someone who can get a car in with just the official money but the average barang does not stand much of a chance.

Sarith,
If shipping cost is what you worried about, I might be able to give a number in NJ or NY that can get you car here less than $2000, but I'll have to find the number and reconfirm with them.

Shasta,
I do not have any serious connections, but if you ONLY import CAR and willing to pay import tax in FULL, you do not have to pay "grey money"(meaning that you DON'T put shit load of other stuffs in your car, and don't want to cheat tax...if your car is a 2000 model, you reported as 2000 model and pay 2000 model tax and not 1998).
Most used car importers here are however not only imported used car, they put spare parts and many others things in the imported cars, and when they want to negotiate for tax free on the parts and stuffs, they have to pay "grey money" and that's how custom officers made their cash. Got it?

I think your typo has hit upon the perfect answer.Sarithp wrote:Forget it!!! The car worth $4500-5000 and the shipping will cost me $4000
$5000 for my car
$4000 for shipping
$4600 for import tax
$2000 for bride <----
1. Marry your car, and bring her in as your wife.
OR
2. Marry a customs official, and bring it in for free.
A 3rd option, is marry anyone on this board... you have many suitors now.
BTW. Could you be a little more specific about your car, I don't quite have a clear picture yet...
