Been at Digi today and they offer 512kbps for 40$ or double speed after business hours for $50. Very funny Up/Download rules which is 128up and only 64 kbps down ... only surfing with full speed. Asked twice so it should be their policy. Not very friendly Customer Reps. Went to Telecom, very friendly although they didn't accept my girlfriends Student ID for the $20 rate (512kbps) so we need to pay the full rate - $30 - for it. Promotion "of the day" you sign today you get double speed (1024kbps) for the same price, surfing speed, up/download all the same and full. Phone line included and for 5$ you can even make calls (3month or so) Modem and Installation free. Will come next Friday and then I will test the line but it sound good for now. Side note, she didn't know how long the promotion will last but we can cancel any month and when I wanted to pay my $30 modem deposit, the cashier told me shes off duty now and I need to come back on Monday! ... after calling for the Manger we had a 10 mins Discussion ... Payment is 1 min ? I guess ... and then she cashed in ... finally.
Yeah, the promo had been going for almost a year now, me thinks.Bernhardow wrote:... My modem broke (after almost 2 years of service) and after a lot of screaming they finally gave me a new one to use. So now i pay $33 including tax for unlimited 1Mb speed.
Left digi at the end of last month... hopeless.
Who are "telecom" and where can I find them?

Same as CamNet, read about them above. They can be found on Sihanouk Blvd, just WEST (away from the river) of Monivong on the right-hand side...Chuangt2u wrote:Left digi at the end of last month... hopeless.

Metfone Stick (Unlimited $20):
Telecom WLAN on Cable:
Telecom Cable (1MB $30):

Telecom Cable (1MB $30):
Here's a chuckle for you...
Metfone's ADSL connection - they left it with me today. It'll be hitting their front desk at 08:00 tomorrow.
Black taped joint between the outside line and the telephone socket jack - exactly as the techs left it
Without the black tape - HiTech and lossless indeed. Can't run a speedtest at speedtest.net as the page won't fully load up.
Telecom wanted me to pay for 300m of new line as they said the nearest copper line to my house is that far away and it would need to be extended... strange... Metfone just plugged me into copper wire at the pole less than 3m from my front door. Telecom also very politely asked me to pay for just a little more line than was needed, pretty please?
The search continues.

Yeah, my installation was about as bad. I took pictures of them standing on a chair and a stack of my books on top of that.
I now have a good idea of how many Cambodians it would take to change a lightbulb.

The kicker is that I can't get my deposit back even though I've called to cancel on the first day of the contract - goodbye to 2 cases of Cambodia beer.
Mrs C tells me the connection was dropping out completely for 5 minute periods within an hour of getting it installed and stayed that way for the afternoon. Speed is nowhere near what it should be - surprise surprise.
No point fixing the joint as there's a good chance they did exactly the same at the pole outside and God knows where else in the system.
Metfone... installed for 1 afternoon and Fired.
Next, please.

I honestly don't know why you don't just go back to Ezecom via a cable connection. I've only had to phone and bollock them twice this year.

If anyone has had any sort of stabile real 'unlimited' 1mb/s internet service here for less than $60-80 a month and for an extended time without problems like being cut off randomly or 'hinted' that your service is just fine apart from problems with the 'wind' etc... let me know, i don't think it's possible..
