baked goods
I am still new here in PP and I have only checked small shops and the grocer in Sorya. None of which had the baked goods I am looking for.
There would'nt happen to be a place here where I could get fresh bagels and Italian pastries such as Cannolis and Sfogliatelle?
Please tell me I do not need to learn how to bake.
And no I cannot eat french pastries...I am American for goodness sake.

That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart.

So basically you're saying you want Wonderbread and Chef Boyardee? I've never seen "real" bagels in Cambodia, though they might sell the processed kind you're looking for at a supermarket or bakery.

no offence to you connecticuter, but I just don't get why people go to a foreign country and then try to recreate their home country there. ... same luxuries, same products, same foodstuffs, same mindset, same conditions, same service.
In your case, Connecticuter, did you get posted for work here? I guess I can understand more if a person is here for the work/money and not to widen their horizons and adapt to a new environment.
Edited: as I've just seen your other post asking why the establishment didn't follow up on your offer to teach the staff English.
sheesh...

Haven't posted for a while. But shall return very briefly to say:
Violet, offence intended: You are a rude churlish bint.

unperson is clearly a sock puppet with a grudge, who has a build up of frustration that just had to be vented. I'm so shattered by your remarks, and yet so honoured that me, big ole me, would bring nobody you out of the woodwork. Of all the posters to post remarks, you chose me to despise and cause you to post again. I'm truly flattered. Well, I would be, if you were of any matter to me.
Your attack is so out of whack with what I said, especially in the context of what is posted by many people on this board... far worse than what I wrote above, that you are showing yourself to be someone who has a personal gripe with me for some reason. It's a shame you hold onto whatever it is that causes you to feel this way. Move on in life.
Go pitch a ball to someone else to start an exciting k440 bust up with.
off you toddle. go on. bless you. poor thing, can't even be brave enough to bully a person face to face.

PS.. yes, Playboy, we can see you like "bint", hence using it under the guise of your sockpuppet. I see it's a word you have used in the past elsewhere.
Nice try.

Sorry violent bint, but UP is not my sock puppet, as you well know, I have no problem calling you a stupid bint under my known ID.violet wrote:PS.. yes, Playboy, we can see you like "bint", hence using it under the guise of your sockpuppet. I see it's a word you have used in the past elsewhere.

PB, if it's not you. fair enough. Could just as easily be you trying to stir things up under another name. My apologies if I am wrong.
To unperson (last time I'll bother on the subject), if this is not an attempt to start a slanging match on here, then you just show yourself to be very very sad.

It seems we have gotten a bit off-topic here. Back to pastries. Connecticuter, you are SOL. The choice is limited, the quality not too good. Why should it be otherwise? The concept of an oven must seem strange to folks living in the tropics.
However, a few expats are trying. Check out The Shop on 240. It's the best in town.

Violet, you are a girl that is not well liked in Cambodia.

can't imagine why. That's a pretty big statement concerning a person who probably didn't get on with a handful of people, but got on well with many others.
Unless you have mistaken me for Bronwyn, an Australian Journalist... and I'm not her.
More correct to say I'm not well liked on K440. I don't know who you are or who you think I am, but I'm certainly not a person deserving of that statement, unperson.
