Sorry everyone I know I have been asking a lot of questions lately. My wifes getting ready to fly back to Cambodia next week. She is flying on EVA out of Los Angeles. Here in the States they do not issue Paper Tickets. You fly mostly on e-tickets. Accoring to EVA All she has to do is show her passport and credit card, and she will be issued a boarding pass. I have called EVA and they tell me there is no problem doing this in Phnom Penh or Tiawan.
My question is has anyone actually used an E-ticket at the Phnom Penh Airport??? My wife is very worried and I don't seem to be able to reassure her that it will not be a problem. When I called EVA they told me they have never had any complaints. My wife tells me she won't even be allowed in the airport without a ticket. I know it won't be a problem as I am sure this is their way of doing business. I would just like to have someone who could reassure her it will be ok. I know I could request paper tickets but it is quite an added expense and e-tickets are easier to use. I do have the flight scheldule and confirmation number.
Thanks

You should be fine, especially if you have a confirmation print out of some kind. They should certainly be able to email the itinerary to you if you don't have a formal print out. I've flown on EVA in and out of Phnom Penh. I'm sure I must have flown out ticketless before. I also think I've flown out ticketless on Bangkok Airways on a ticket bought online. I wouldn't be too worried.
Also she shouldn't be worried when changing planes in Taipei if it appears they are taking her to the wrong airline! Eva often use a small orange coloured plane (somewhat resembling a flying pencil) from their domestic airline "Uni Air". I've seen panicked Americans in transit trying to convince the Uni Air flight attendants that they have been taken to the wrong plane.
Thanks we have both flown it before. I just never bought the ticket online before. My wife seems to have calmed down a little about the whole thing. She has been calling her family and friends here asking and most of them say not to worry. Funny when I say not to worry she does. When they say not to worry it is ok . Hmm anyone else ever have this problem with their Khmer wives or girlfriends??

They always have to check with at least six people before they truly believe anything; and at least three of them have to be blood relatives.
So, when my girl is asking me about the best kind of new business venture to start up in Phnom Penh, my MBA / 10 year senior management opinion is less valid than uncle Bunna who is a motodop in Prey Veng.
Khmer girls, are they not something.

Well good. I really was not sure if this was a cultural thing or not. My wife has always been the leader of her family. She is the one everyone comes to for advise. At least once a week I come home to her talking on the phone back home telling her neice to get her ass back in school or her sister not to waste money on something that stupid. I have to admit she is smart as hell and I guess that she has always had to rely on herself. Then we are different culturally . She sorts and folds socks. I am just happy to find two the same color.Playboy wrote: Only when I open my mouth!

Thanks again it gave me a good laugh.

My wife used to be the same.
But a long record of being right, when everyone else was wrong has changed that somewhat.
Now, instead of blindly believing them over me, I at least get the benefit of the doubt. Still doesn't believe everything I say,but hey...it's progress.
I like it though. All cultures rely on the experience of their families to guide them. Its just the East relies on it more,... whereas the West has started to rely on science more...

Actually, funnily enough, her mother always sides with me. It is those ancient toothless crows out in the provinces that rattle their bones and read the tealeaf’s that do not know anything, but feel have to say something that drive me mad – “Yes a yak and whelk cross-breeding farm next to the Russian Market is a good business idea”CamSoze wrote:If mom says the opposite, you are always wrong.

That is true, but in most countries the family members aren't semi illiterate hicks, even my in-laws who are supposedly educated to university level I have heard making comments and suggestions that are truly absurd.I like it though. But like Seuss as I am currently leading the family 500 to 0 in the Right & Wrong trophy, I am now listened to for a minute, that is before the family member puts it to a Khmer vote, that is where someone older says something (even if it bordering on the ridiculous) and then all the younger ones, in tandem start saying "nung-ai, nung-ai, trouw" with looks of real conviction on their face, at which point the statement is declared to be a fact.
We were recently arguing about child care techniques (or lack of them) and someone made the ridiculous statement that Khmers and Khmer children are healthier than foreigners, I then printed out some pages from the U.N web site database that showed Cambodia had an infant mortality rate of 94.8 per 1000 births, roughly 10%, whilst the U.K has 5.3 per 1000 roughly 0.5 percent, and that the life expectancy at birth in England is 78.3 years whilst being 59.6 in Cambodia, to which their answer was "How do they know that, they are wrong and probably just guess". At this point I passed out from banging my head against the wall.
If anyone else would like some facts and figures for your in-laws to attempt to ridicule, go to http://esa.un.org/unpp/index.asp?panel=2
You know it is funny she has never sided with her family over me. Mostly it is just her friends in the US. Also it is funny that she always tells them how smart I am. I think most of this is just because she has always been in charge in her family and does not know how to let anyone else make decisions. (I have to admit I am a lot like that also) Also after having listened to all the problems everyone else has I am starting to feel pretty good about my problems. Thanks again

I have never flown Eva air, but I have used e-tickets many times. In fact, I will go out of my way to avoid a paper ticket. I love e-tickets--definitely the best way to go. I have never had a problem with an e-ticket. Lose a paper ticket or spill coffee on it, and you're in big trouble. Nothing can happen to an e-ticket. Just print out the confirmation and take it with you. Normally, I am only asked for my passport to verify identity, though I ALWAYS have the paper printout so I can simply hand it to them and stand back while the wheels spin. I love e-tickets so much I am willing to pay extra to travel that way--though that is not necessary as they are cheaper! In Europe the major carriers charge as much as $100 to issue a paper ticket.
