Shoe Shine?
Last night I shined two sets of shoes. I did a decent job, but it is nothing like a professional shoe shine. Is there a place in PP you can get a decent shoe shine?
That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart.

There used to be plenty of street urchins doing it but I haven't noticed so many recently. Sit outside a restaurant in the centre of town and one usually comes by.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
I always seem to get hit up buy shoe shine kids on the river. weirdly though it's always when i'm wearing flip flops or sneakers and never when im in my fancy shoes.
In the early days when i first came to PP, I was a member of the ''white shoe brigade '', that was until those shoeshine kids cleaned my shoes. White and black shoes are not in fashion these days.gusone wrote:I always seem to get hit up buy shoe shine kids on the river. weirdly though it's always when i'm wearing flip flops or sneakers and never when im in my fancy shoes.

I have had a few want to shine my feet (flip flops) but not many at all, maybe 2 in 2 years. Instead I use to treat myself to a torturing by some young Khmer girl that doesn't know what or how to do a pedicure. Now I let my girlfriend do it since she seems to enjoy it and now I only see blood about every 5 times.
I bring my shoes to work every 2 weeks to get them shined by the resident shoe shine/ newspaper boy at my local coffee shop.
Yep, same story for me.gusone wrote:I always seem to get hit up buy shoe shine kids on the river. weirdly though it's always when i'm wearing flip flops or sneakers and never when im in my fancy shoes.
I've only had my shoes shined ONCE on the riverfront, but it was total crap. Don't remember what I paid, but I would guess I paid a dollar... I wouldn't have paid more...
OK Conny. Same thing with me and flip flops. Sounds like you had better go and sit in a local restaurant wearing flip flops,(indoor/outdoor style street restaurant) buy a coffee and wait until a kid asks if he can shine your feet. You then pull out two pairs of swanky leather shoes, and continue sipping on your coffee until the job is done to your satisfaction.

Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.

LOL, just had a mental picture of SunSan dragging a swagbag full of shoes into his office and explaining that it was the fortnightly cleaning while locals muttered something about barang lap-lap.SunSan wrote:I bring my shoes to work every 2 weeks to get them shined by the resident shoe shine/ newspaper boy at my local coffee shop.
