International flight
Has anyone flown with Korea Air from PP to north America ? Was it a good flight and what was the food like other than edible ?

I flew Korean Air once from Bangkok to North America. It was a nightmare. Not so much the airline, per se, more the people who tend to be inside of it. I could see my wife was really annoyed with something for the whole flight, but she wouldn't tell me what it was. After everyone deplaned (we waited since we had an 8-month old baby), she told me that the Korean bitch in the seat behind spent the entire flight with her heels dug into the back of her seat and wouldn't let her recline. I of course said "why didn't you tell me?" and she replied, quite logically, that I would have made a scene. This was true. As she was telling me this, she started combing her hair in preparation to leave. And discovered that the bitch had done one more thing before leaving, she'd stuck a wad of chewing gum in her hair. I was ready to kill at this point, but the bitch was long gone. A mood that was not improved by the 8-hour layover in soulless Seoul Airport with nothing to do and nowhere to go.mango45 wrote:Has anyone flown with Korea Air from PP to north America ? On my 8-hour layover, I took the shuttle to the city and was most frustrated by the fact that there was absolutely no drinking culture mid-morning on a Tuesday. Fucking savages.Jacked Camry wrote:A mood that was not improved by the 8-hour layover in soulless Seoul Airport with nothing to do and nowhere to go.

I've been Seoel to Atlanta twice and loved it. I can't remember the food, but the planes were great with ur own tv and great selection of movies documentaries, etc, on demand.... I even kept the "blind fold" they gave us and use it to this day...mango45 wrote:Has anyone flown with Korea Air from PP to north America ? Yes, I would think there would be drinking in Itaewon at 10 am on a Tuesday.Phuket2006 wrote:did u check out Itaewon-dong, what where u looking for? st bars?

That's exactly where I went. There were a few bars where I called in - a bit closer to noon, but I was the only customer.gavinmac wrote:Yes, I would think there would be drinking in Itaewon at 10 am on a Tuesday.Phuket2006 wrote:did u check out Itaewon-dong, what where u looking for? st bars?

Of course every flight is different for anyone flying, but on my flight with Korean Air I was treated quite well by the staff there, my seat was nice, the airplane was new, and some of the stewardesses were quite attractive.. especially on the one flying Bangkok-Seoul.. so who cares about the food then..
oh yeah, and the lay over is great for a quick hop into Seoul, the train going there is brand new and fast, and the subway will get anyone anywhere they want.. i had a cup'a joe at coffee bean there.. but they don't speak english,.. so pratice a bit of korean if going.. as for Seoul.. not a tourist spot.. mostly the raw deal i guess..

hahahhahabut they don't speak english
I used to work between Seoul and HK in ''84-85 and no body spoke English EXCEPT in the bars in Itaewon
Had some great nights out there and the clubs were very much fun and excellent street food.
If u took a taxi u had to have it written where u wanted to go and restaurants it was point to what you wanted
Loved Namdaemun Market and Bukchon Village

Food on the airplane was mediocre, they let u choose 'western' or 'korean' at leastmango45 wrote:Has anyone flown with Korea Air from PP to north America ? Was it a good flight and what was the food like other than edible ?
if you have one of those shitty 8 hour layovers ask them to book you a room at the Hyatt? near the airport, 5 minute bus ride
A free lunch is included with the room
The buffet is 10X's better than any Phnom Penh hotel buffet (I will look for the food pics i took, seem to remember Salmon and blue cheese for some reason)
