Here is the place to post any simple or complex questions you may have about any aspect of life in Cambodia and beyond without fear of being told 'That question has been asked 100 times before.'
You can buy glue mats from the supermarket. Place them along the floor next to the walls (but not in the corner) and wait. Once they step on them they will be stuck fast immediately and will do anything in their power to get off, including ripping their fur and gnawing their feet. Once stuck they will scream incessently (because of the self-inflicted pain) and it is at this point you are aware you have your quarry. Pick up the mat with rat attached and place in a large bucket of water until the vermin has drowned. Remove rat (destroy or eat) and re-apply glue to catch other members of the family.

The sticky mats are ready to go. Didn't think of drowning it in a bucket though... I was going to use it in the kitchen at the restaurant a la sashimi.
My Cat is smaller then most of the Rats I see on the Street ... doubt he would stand Ground. Been hunting my first Rat last night under "romantic" light conditions and checked today where it disappeared (under the stairs) finding a big Lizard instead ... poor boy got stuck and I don't want to pull on his tail ... better to wait until he loses some weight maybe.

I had some rats visiting when I moved into an apartment in PP the other year, the sticky paper worked well, just bashed em' on the head with a stool when stuck and threw them out the window, tried to pull them off but it would just rip them apart. Got the girlfriend to clean up the mess then replaced the sticky paper (a few grains of rice and penuts help) . Caught 5 in 24hours, problem solved.
