Every time I used to go to a convenience store In New York to buy milk or something, I'd be like "yo how much bro?" and the shopkeeper would be like "90 baht" in his thick Brooklyn accent and I'd get so pissed off, like "hey we're in America bro, why can't you just tell how many dollars?" but he literally had no concept of anything other than baht.
Fixed that for you.OneManArmy wrote:So I have read on a few threads that PP is cheaper than Bangkok. Would you guys say that let's say, $2,000 earned in Cambodia (coz I am used to Thai currency, but know how to convert currencies) is around $2,700 in Bangkok? Or is that too much of a difference?
By the way, I am talking from a single, early 30's, like the odd weekend trip to the bar male.
Cheers.

The entire question is nonsensical, since you can't get equivalent housing/food/services in Thailand and Cambodia. People who live cheap in one place may not be able to accept the differences.Alex wrote:Fixed that for you.OneManArmy wrote:So I have read on a few threads that PP is cheaper than Bangkok. I do think it's fair to say that it's POSSIBLE to live on the same amount in either place; the rest is personal preference.
I think "any further comment would be superfluous".
But I look forward to reading them...

It's good to laugh at one's self...especially since your original comment was so hilariously thick.Sok Poupe wrote:You make me laugh...Khmeria wrote:Yeah Americans are notorious for constantly quoting prices in baht instead of dollars.

You are unlikely to earn the equivalent of 60,000 baht in Cambodia unless you manage to land a job at one of the actual international school in Phnom Penh which are very difficult to get. I'm assuming you don't have a Masters in TESOL or the like. Full time teaching jobs in Cambodia tend to pay around the equivalent of 30-40 thousand baht.OneManArmy wrote:So I have read on a few threads that PP is cheaper than Bangkok. Sorry about using baht. How stupid of me!!
Anyway, basically, is $2,000 similar to $2700 dollars in Thailand? (as Alex so kindly converted for me). Is Cambodia cheaper for everyday living, not including accommodation as this will be paid for me.

Not all international schools in Cambodia are actually international schools. Indeed many schools in Cambodia have 'international' in their name yet are anything but. Northbridge, ISPP and BISPP are the only real goers in Phnom Penh. For instance, I worked at Western International School in Siem Reap for a while and was on an hourly rate. I won't bore you with the shit they put me through, but trust me it was shit.OneManArmy wrote:It would be with an international school.Falcon Randwick wrote:You are unlikely to earn the equivalent of 60,000 baht in Cambodia unless you manage to land a job at one of the actual international school in Phnom Penh which are very difficult to get. The link below shows allegedly accredited 'international schools' in Cambodia though several of them are nothing more than diploma factories. I hope you have your shit worked out...

What about ICAN? I have heard that they are the best British school, no? Although, I know that ISPP and Northbridge are the top 2.

Would you do a 15 day quarantine just to get 4-6 weeks of freedom in Thailand or Cambodia?
