Because the reason they bought in that law was to stop their poor little Khmer women being exploited and used as cheap labor or abused. I doubt the ministry would ok a Freedom To Marry for this reason.
I would be more than happy to be proved wrong though as I am looking at doing this in Singapore, where they have just in the last two months brought in the Freedom To Marry law for both parties.

Assuming she's single then No, your Khmer intended DOES NOT NEED any supporting documentation other than her passport in order to get married in Hong Kong.YaTingPom wrote:To get married in HK doesn't your Khmer spouse need a Freedom To Marry certified by her embassy in HK or the ministry in PP?
Don't believe me, go and read the requirements on the gov.hk website at http://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/marriage/Reg ... riage.html
I'm not as patient as PSD-Kiwi. gov.hk website provides the theory, my practical experience is described at http://walkjivefly.com/2017/02/getting- ... hong-kong/. The information is still correct. One couple I know followed the instructions and got married in HK in April 2017, one couple are getting married in HK in about 3 weeks. Neither required a certificate of non-impediment for the Khmer bride.
If you doubt your ability to, or have difficulty following simple instructions then yes, you can pay a HK law firm to check your papers and submit the application for you.

Thanks! Will give it a try at lucky moto next month.PSD_Kiwi wrote:If you can't manage to get a 6mth EB EOS without a WP, then just get a 6 mth EG EOS.
When I went by lucky moto a few weeks ago, it appeared that the there was as an e-visa for 3 months, but alas, single entry only.
All this because she is fixated on having an official ceremony at home in her village. For the sake of face.
You don't need to be SO CONDESCENDING. It was a question hence the "?".walkjivefly wrote:Assuming she's single then No, your Khmer intended DOES NOT NEED any supporting documentation other than her passport in order to get married in Hong Kong.YaTingPom wrote:To get married in HK doesn't your Khmer spouse need a Freedom To Marry certified by her embassy in HK or the ministry in PP?

Use the information or don't; it makes no difference to me. Someone else might find it useful.
