What possible use could formaldehyde have in liquor, which lasts forever anyway ? As a flavoring agent ? They put it in milk in Greece when I was there years ago, so they didn't have to refrigerate it. I wouldn't put it past them dousing Chang or Singha w/it though.
There are a lot of urban myths surrounding this, particularly regarding Indian, Thai and Chinese beer, however formaldehyde is detectable in many beers but in very low concentrations. Investigation into Benzene, Trihalomethanes and Formaldehyde in Chinese Lager Beers

Note:In 2005, various Chinese newspapers reported that formaldehyde was detected in 95% of the samples of Chinese commercial bottled beers tested in the course of a journalistic investigation. The addition of formaldehyde during mashing is allowed in China, and it is believed to improve the clarity of the resulting wort and beer and the colloidal stability of the latter. Nevertheless, the hygienic standard for fermented alcoholic beverages in China was revised, to stipulate that the formaldehyde content of the finished beer must not exceed 2 mg/L.

If there's any alcohol experts, no joke intended here, or someone who knows the company,
I'd be curious what's your opinion of Mekong Whiskey. Will I damage my brain more than any other brand?
Serious question
Thanx

You're not the only one. Mekong has virtually disappeared in Thai bars in the last 5 years.Phuket2006 wrote:Personally i prefer Sang Som over Mekong

Mekong Whiskey seems to result in a much worse state of drunkenness. I know a couple of people sworn off of it after going full retard with Mekong and mixers.
It tastes as you would expect at that price.
