Pregnant Khmer girlfriend, help or hinder visa?
Not correct about mandatory DNA. DNA is required should the case officer deem fit to ask for one if your application lacks substance. Most people who do the paper work themselves can get it wrong and not pay attention to details like being physically in the country to impregnating the girl. Getting the Cambodia birth certificate for your child even if you are unmarried should be easy BUT it's the local sangkat/commune that you belong to that is causing all the grief saying that they can't, its a new law and so on in order to extract large sum of cash from you.

As far as the embassy is concerned, is it as simple as an unmarried woman declaring around the time of birth that an American man is the father, getting his name on the birth certificate, and then the American declares that to the embassy? They just take everyone's word for it? Or do they eyeball the kid and see if there's a resemblance?
What sort of questions does the embassy ask, other than asking if you were in Cambodia at the time of conception?

IE if the Cambodian sangket is giving your trouble & u have all the requirements i stated and it is 100% ur son,
go to the us embassy in Bangkok to get the "report of birth abroad" with the Cambodian BC translated into English
Where ur child is born that HAVE to give you a BC an most likely you will need enter the child on the mom family book as well

Ok now the baby is recognized by another country as a citizen and goes to that country with the father is the mother then eligible for any permanent visa maybe under some family reunion scheme ?
Thanks. I have the US embassy appointment in 2 months so getting all of the support together now. The birth certificate needs to come from the Sangkat I was informed so I will head over Monday or Tuesday morning. I will report back on how I progress.Phuket2006 wrote:
YOU do NOT need a marriage license to get a bc and with that get a "report of birth abroad" for the us government which than allows you to obtain a US passport for your child. The BC MUST have you listed as the father.
My daughter was born out of wedlock and got her passport long before i married her mother.
so u want be a good guy>>>
I wrote all this before, doesn't anyone read my posts LOL
FOR US
Start from when the mom starts showing she is pregnant ( or before) , take photos of the two of you together, live together, establish ur a couple
when the baby is born go to the Embassy with the BC with ur name listed as the dad, photos showing ur relationship, take two friends with you that will swear your a couple. Both will be asked "is this your child?"
99 out of 100 u will get the child citizenship, that other 1% u will be asked for a dna test an out goes the whole thing.
And for the misses I am under the impression that Fiance visa and marriage in USA is best so didn't see any reason to get the marriage paper from Cambodia.
I don't have any immediate urgent reason to get it done ASAP besides peace of mind. No intention to live in USA at least not for some years.

Get the BC translated ( officially, ask the embassy who to use) to english
So ur not going to live there but only go an get married and leave?
she will lose her status as ur supposed to remain in the states for at least 2 years after ur married for her to retain her green card.
You can get a parole but need give good reason why, an its only valid for a short time and than she must return to live
Otherwise in the future you will need start the whole process over.
If your not going to move there to live, why bother?

Can she leave during the two years for vacations, and if so, for how long?

Yeah, I guess I hadn't really considered the marriage so much. I would like my son to have the citizenship now and for the misses to be able to easily travel with me to the states.Phuket2006 wrote:Get the BC translated ( officially, ask the embassy who to use) to english

We tried to get the travel visa before but was rejected and they didn't tell her the reason. She has been to Australia and Singapore and other places with no issue so I thought the U.S. would be simple as well. Nope.
We need to stop acting like dammed Seppos.

I hope you'll be getting her a work permit, 440.
I've already spoken to Obama warning him about Khmer 'wives' entering the US who only want citizenship, and I've told him to clamp the feck down.
Only people with 5 trillion dollars security and a 20-year history of a witnessed relationship should be even permitted to apply.

did she visit Australia with you and was that difficult to get a tourist visa? What did they require?GMJS-440 wrote: We tried to get the travel visa before but was rejected and they didn't tell her the reason. I see a lot more FB photos of Cambodian girls on vacation with boyfriends in Australia then in the U.S. Does Australia allow your average not wealthy Cambodian girl to visit as a tourist if she is with a Western guy who is paying for everything?

Haha, you know what I meant. America is not making it easy for my fiancee to get her visa. Which, I guess I am not too bitter about. I am bitter a bit about ILLEGALs sneaking into our country and being given amnesty and other tax payer benefits.gavinmac wrote:You wanted him to take you?
