Any ideas to dispose of glass?
Any ideas to dispose of glass?
We don't have waste collection in my area so we are disposing of our garbage by ourselves, which means burning them in our backyard.
But we have a mounting pile of glass: broken glasswares, jars, booze bottles, fish sauce bottles, glass panels.
Any ideas how I can either reuse them or recycle them? Is there a business in Phnom Penh that would buy them for peanuts?

We're in a quiet residential neighborhood, so there isn't much traffic of eyjay or street sellers.
In addition, they seem to only be interested in cans and steel scraps.

http://realfoodcambodia.com/sustainable ... hnom-penh/ Google is your friend.
Thanks! This is a good lead! Will contact them and see if that'll work. Though it looks like they'll do that only if I purchase their products. Will see if they will just take the glass containers.
I still need to get rid of broken glasses and glass panels though.

Goodbye America, if anyone asks, say we were shipwrecked. Goodbye to your junk and your old hideola. Have a nice day.

Thanks for the clarification!
I misread the article, sorry.
Do you need the bottles to be pre-cleaned? Mine have been laying around and taken up dust and grit.

I've never seen them take glass. I've had to pay to get a load of glass bottles bagged up and taken away on a remorque to be dumped.oxbowlarry wrote:you don't have the recyclers with there carts ?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Wait!?! You burn your garbage in your backyard? Honestly?Joon wrote:We don't have waste collection in my area so we are disposing of our garbage by ourselves, which means burning them in our backyard.
Showing my ignorance here, but is this how the majority of Cambodia get's rid of it's garbage?
Never given it much thought. In the parts of town I've always lived in we've always had trash collection (apart from when CINTRI are on strike).
How do most Cambodians get rid of their garbage?
I know that other families would throw them in the river or in a pond or on the side of the road.Rama wrote:Wait!?! You burn your garbage in your backyard? I've also seen someone in a Lexus mini slow down on National Road 1 then throw a garbage bag on a pile of trash on the side of the road.
we need a glass recycling plant in Cambodia.
I cannot believe that even beer companies do not collect their bottles.
we run a bar so we have many beer bottles but they refused to re-use them...
