Just a few more info,
Fibpronil is the chemical composition engineered for kill the termites but the product names are very different, the khmer shops will have no idea what fibpronil is, you must read at the back of the product in order to know if it's the right one.
In Australia it is still under patent and it's sold as a already mixed solution called termidor®, some sell a similar already mixed product here.
Don't buy the already mixed solution because it's much more expensive than buying the pure crystals and mixing yourself, almost 8 times more expensive.
A small amount of fibpronil (good for 10meters or so) costs a couple of dollars in pure form and 19.99$ for the already mixed form.
Fibpronil is non toxic to humans and mammals but creates problems with fishes so avoid using it near a fish pond or lake.
Termite Treatment
Great info, what would be useful too is a pic with the container (plastic bag? Cardboard box?) It comes in in the markets. It'd be hard enough to explain to a Khmer seller without a picture.
When I bought it it was in many sugar like packets, very small packets. Yellow if I recall correctly. unfortunately I don't any left.
They look very much like this, the composition of the product is written on the back.

"....rare..."? Th guy who came said about 50% of the houses in the borei had serious termite problems. Apparently river sand (upon which most of new PP is now constructed) is their preferred habit. PP is about to collapse. But we knew that already.jackrossi wrote:Again guys for termites use fibpronil solution, dig a shallow ditch around your house about 12cm deep and 15cm wide fill it with a few buckets of fibpronil solution unti it's full than fill it back in and you are done for years. If they are coming from under the floor or they already have a nest in the house than it's much harder but that's rare. I found fibpronil before at orussey market in small sugar like packets. 10$ for the fibpronil and 10$-20$ for the guy that digs the ditch should be enough. After that you can call the pros for removing anything already inside the house. If they come from under the floor slab try to track their way in, they always leave a tunnel like structure around their entrance, you can seal any little holes or cracks with grout or sika seal. If you have any wood that's easy to reach for the termites you can treat it with borates solution spray.
Jack is correct about the best product. We just dug a trench about 800mm deep around the building and installed a termite prevention treatment. It is a yellow 6mm hose which is perforated and buried in brickies sand with blue metal on top. Every five years Termidor is pumped through the pipe. Initially there was 800 litres put through it which certainly solved our ant problems!
The active ingredient is Fipronil.
There is a termite man here who appears to be a crook, he does the Embassy in Phnom Penh every so often at vast expense. Why you would fly a fraudster from Cairns when there are local firms available one would have to ask those alleged property managers for the Commonwealth. There must be some awesome kickbacks in Embassy work. I remember that two Aussies who were looking after the Embassy in the past were sacked and asked to pay back money. One was that brickworks guy, the same guy who was at Koh Kong. The habitual loser dickhead.
Our treatment system for approx 90 lineal meters cost $4200 and I supplied 4 cubic meters of sand and blue metal.
