You need to own a relevant business, or "use" someone who does. Are you friends with a bar or restaurant owner? They can get a copy of a price list and order what you want. Usually gets delivered the next day, COD. LSH will not email price lists.starkmonster wrote:How do we buy stuff from LSH?
They don't appear to have a shop, how do we get hold of the price list?

They've obviously loosened their policies somewhat. I just walked in and purchased the last bag, no questions asked. For anyone who visits, it looks like an abandoned villa, the shop is around the back.

They will email price lists, and will sell anything to anybody, in my experience with them.chkwoot wrote:You need to own a relevant business, or "use" someone who does. If you need to get a delivery from them just make up a business name eg "smiths kitchen", or similar. . .

Had you actually ever been before? Doesn't sound like it. If so, they've "loosened" their policy for several years now, maybe even from the start?starkmonster wrote:They've obviously loosened their policies somewhat. My experience is the same as Jackal's. I've never had trouble walking in and buying something as simple as a jar of olives from them.

I bought 2kg of "nitrate salt" from LSH, but there is no info on the bags (obviously repackaged) as to the exact composition. Anyone know, or do I need to go in and try to look at the original packaging if possible?
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

Yeah, I checked them out before. $22.12 per kilo is 6.32 times more expensive than LSH, before shipping costs and post office "tax." I'm trying to keep costs down. Thanks.PSD_Kiwi wrote:https://thaiartisanfoods.com/?product_c ... d-pickling
These guys deliver to Cambodia
You also need to remember that nitrate (Curing Salt #2) is used for longer cures such as dry curing hams, pepperoni, salami, etc. While nitrite (curing salt #1) is for shorter wet cures such as wet cured hams, bacon, pastrami, corned beef, and the like.
Nitrate breaks down to nitrite, which is what is needed to cure. Nitrite = days while nitrate = weeks/months.
If you use something that is only nitrate and salt, then it will take some time for curing to begin because no nitrite is present at the start. That's why cure #2 has nitrate AND nitrite so that curing will begin at the start and will keep going while the nitrates breaks down.
