Soundproofing
Soundproofing
I need to soundproof a double door and some windows. I don't care if I have to cover them, seal them in, but it can't be permanent. Sandbags would work, but too heavy. Any ideas on what is available, and where? I'm trying to dampen or eliminate street noise and KTM music - hate to move. TIA.
I use earplugs when I go out, but they hurt after an hour or so. (have tinnitus, and sharp or loud sounds set it off). I'd just like to dampen the street noise and KTV stuff as much as possible when I'm home.
plywood for door and plexi for windows?
problem is the soft material won't work well, like heavy curtains etc, you need something hard in this case.
also, there are high end earplugs, maybe they won't hurt, google 'ear peace' for example.

There are acoustic panels. Not sure if you can get them in Cambodia but if you plywood inside, insulate between with acoustic insulation bats, plywood outside and caulk around the perimeter would be a fix.

I tried headphones and white noise - sweated so much, I got a fungal infection in my ears. I'm STILL swabbing my ears with vinegar to get rid of it. You gotta love SEA!

Soundproofing, temporarily, with the materials available here will be expensive and largely unsuccessful. Spend your money on moving to a house in a quieter neighbourhood.
