Was having a few Vodka and limes on the balcony this evening, as you do, and my other half came and sat next to me and noticed the odd dog tick hiding under the bottom window ledge. She eventually counted 79 of the fuckers under that ledge and squashed them as she counted on a bit of cardboard which ended up looking like a Jackson Pollock.
I think the dog needs something to keep on top of them? Any ideas?
Cheers

Bravecto from AgroVet. Expensive but it really works. 1 pill lasts 3 months, costs over $40 for a big dog.
I used to roll up dried mint and rosemary in a bandana that I tied around my dogs neck worked great to repel ticks or fleas and none toxic.

There is an injection my dog gets every few months... I can't recall the name however.
When I was living just outside of PP the vet would come by and give the injection for less than $5 all said and done. It was the *only* thing that worked. Tick shampoo, pills, etc, didn't even come close to being effective enough. I tried quite a few things. Go to a local vet and ask, I'm sure they know what it is. This is for a big dog (~ 30kg).
Where I live now I need to give the injection myself. The vet house calls were great.

Tried dish washing liquid mixed with vinegar a few days ago. Seems to have killed them off abit.
Injecting with chemicals seems abit harsh no?

Supporting the injection. Mint and rosemary worked to drive off one or two ticks from anything that walks (be it my dog, my cats, or myself, with the things stuffed in my socks lol) in Europe, but these hungry buggers will need the heavy artillery to stay away from your pets.
Sure, it is quite harsh on your pooch, but it's still better than getting sick from the ticks.
I've never tried the vinegar/dish washing liquid combo, so I can't really comment on that... do you wash your dog with these, rub him with that?
