OMG what are those loud a$$ birds at dawn?
I don't need a 5am alarm clock anymore with these crack of dawn song birds going on and on until sunrise. They just started a couple weeks ago and I hear them all over town. What kind of bird is it?

don't blame the birds, blame the people who gets up at half past 4 in the morning and turn on their electric lights which trick the birds into thinking it is dawn and start the morning chorus earlier than it should be.

They're called roosters.
They don't need electric lights, they crow when the stars turn a certain degree, usually start abut 2-3 am.

FFS, you should count yourself lucky to hear birds, unlike in Vietnam......
Anyway, Asian Koel is possible at this time of the year though they are not all over town. They do start calling pre-dawn, nothing to do with artificial light.
However, my guess is that they are indeed Common Mynah (I am assuming you know what a bloody rooster sounds like?).

Yet again Vladimir just making things up on the spot. why do you feel the need to do it?relating to temperature I've never heard such rubbish in my life is it do with thier internal clock which is set for dawn and dusk. and yes electric lighting does interrupt this rhythm I makes them crow at irregular times.son of vladimir wrote:They're called roosters.

nothing to do with artificial light really ? just do a Google search and you will inform yourself.a hotelier trying to correct an ecologist and tell them what's what.... Lol...do a search for how circadian rhythms are affected by artificial light.Hanno wrote:FFS, you should count yourself lucky to hear birds, unlike in Vietnam......

I am also a hobby ornithologist and have been watching birds all my life. Some birds, e.g. blackbirds, are affected by city lights. However, I specifically referred to Asian Koel, which do start calling pre-dawn, even when there is no light for miles around.Negan Jones wrote:nothing to do with artificial light really ? just do a Google search and you will inform yourself.a hotelier trying to correct an ecologist and tell them what's what.... I am usually up at 3 or 4. The birds I regularly hear at that time are Plaintive Cuckoo (calls 24/7), Asian Koel (start about an hour before dawn), Lineated Barbet (same), Asian Barred Owlet (calls 24/7) and that is pretty much it. Oh and all Swift species though they are usually not very noisy.TheGraw wrote:No it's not a rooster or a Koel. Are none of you up early??
