Separations are ten-a-penny...
But i only know a couple of Khmer folk who actually are divorced (and that may not even be official)

Having more and more divorces in KoW. The social pressure isn't as big as it use to be.Miguelito wrote:I was having a discussion today, how common are dirvorces in Cambodia? Considering they’re up to what, 40%-50% in the West, I’m sure it’s much lower than that here, but is it growing?
I know some (ex) couples that divorced after as much as three days of being wed (reasons are usually "convenience marriage" or the groom finds himself to be gay and stuff)
The official number is very low, but that's because a lot of 'marriages' never get registered, and so does the divorce. Usually a divorce outside of the main centers means the guy starting the engine of his motorbike and leaving. Since they never got the paperwork done when married, no need to get the paperwork done when divorced.Miguelito wrote:I was having a discussion today, how common are dirvorces in Cambodia? Thanks guys, I'm not too interested in divorce stats at the moment. I'm after finding a good divorce lawyer to represent an ex-pat in divorcing his Khmer wife (married in Australia, both now living in Cambodia).
I might be wrong, but your friend will probably need to file the divorce in Australia, so he'd need an Australia divorce lawyer
No need for a lawyer, and they can divorce via internet.
