I often see restaurants in Kampot, Kep & Shk advertising Barramundi on their menus, anyone know whether it is the same Fish a Barra in Aussie or are restaurants selling a similar fish-type but just advertising it as Barra?...and if so what is the local name for it?
Cheers!
Barramundi ?

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

It's apparently very popular in Thailand, but nobody in the office could tell me the name in Khmer.
The barramundi or Asian sea bass (Lates calcarifer) is a species of catadromous fish in family Latidae of order Perciformes. The species is widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific region from Southeast Asia to Papua New Guinea and Northern Australia. Known in Thai language as pla kapong, it is very popular in Thai cuisine.

That's the problem with the Strine language. They butcher and chop up English so much that nobody outside there knows what the fuck they are on about. The fisho gave me a fair suck of the sav when I asked for a Barramundi. Holy dooley!PSD_Kiwi wrote:Is the same Fish a Barra in Aussie?
